How does progesterone cream help?

Progesterone cream has seemed to help some people. Can anybody explain how this might help? I’m sorry if this is repetitive to some but I’m trying to reseach different treatments.

I’ve just started zinc/copper and tyrosine. I might add phenylalinine and carnitine. any suggestions?

I’m on the fence about it, since it is a known 5AR inhibitor and hence can lower DHT… but I believe this is when used above 5mg/day. Anyway, here is an article showing the benefits of Progesterone in nerve repair:

As for other treatments, you can try garlic capsules, Tribulus, Tongkat Ali, Avena Sativa and Arginine if you are trying to boost T/libido/erections… for Dopamine, Mucuna Pruriens.

Check all the articles in teh Naturals section, there’s lots of good info to be had.

Grail,

More thoughts.

The reason guys have been wanting to try Progesterone creams etc is to boost its 5AR metabolite, Allopregnanolone, which can be depleted during Finasteride usage (see the studies in “Finasteride Studies” section for confirmation of this).

However, there are some other Progesterone studies posted in the “Other Studies” section, that show Progesterone can inhibit libido, lower T and surpress LH/FSH…

In addition, I have read that Progesterone also inhibits the actions of 5AR (thus inhibiting not only DHT but also 5AR Progesterone --> Allopregnanolone conversion – which is the whole point why some people are taking it in the first place!)

My personal opinion would be: get blood tests for Allopregnanolone (and potentially GABAA) first, then determine what can be done from that point forward if its out of range.

Most likely I would expect people’s Progesterone/Allopregnanolone/GABAA levels to return to normal after Finasteride, but you never know.

Just my thoughts…

First time back in awhile. Thanks Mew for that information. Just had another blood test. Will be posting soon. I’m going to try natural remedies for 2 to 3 months then see an endo.
