Horribly greasy skin and seborrheic dermatitis!

So I’ve been off fin for 17 months now. What I’ve noticed is that I’ve developed a pretty bad seb. dermatitis on my face since quitting the drug. I know for a fact that DHT and testosterone have a role in oil production and skin health, so I’m thinking maybe it was finasteride that has caused this. Initially, while on fin, it caused me a bad scalp seb. dermatitis, which has now gone away.

My face was doing alright while on fin, no overwhelming greasiness or inflammation problems like now. While I was on fin I even tried like a months period without washing my face with anything else than water and was doing fantastically well! Well when I try that now, my nose will be all greasy and red in no time and when I wash my face I get this horrible white flaking on my t-zone, most notably on my nose. So does anyone know if elevated DHT or testosterone levels could cause this?

Had it on fin without knowing the reason (had had sd years before) and it’s back with a vengeance. Wish I had my old greasy skin of old back though. Skin rash is a listed side I was told (never checked the sides since way back, even forgot about the sexual ones).

After 6 months of discontinuing fin, I developed an absolutely horrific case of seborrheic dermatitis that I have been fighting helplessly for the past 1 1/2 years. Despite seeing multiple dermatologists, and trying just about every shampoo and steroid on the market, I have been unable to get it under control. And it is absolutely destroying my hair. Oddly enough though, it’s only the right side of my head. The left side is completely fine. At this rate, half of my head will go bald and the other half will still have hair.

Probably the worst thing about the seb derm is the constant inflammation and redness. The feeling on my scalp seems to oscillate between sore, itchy, or a combination of the two depending on what I try to use to attempt to treat it. But I cannot calm the irritation, it is now worse than ever.

Since noone knows what causes it (fungus is the popular consensus in western medicine), I have read from other sources that it could be due to things such as hormonal imbalance, liver toxicity, and other similiar issues that may be related to finasteride.

Has anybody experienced/struggled with this?

Yeah I had scalp seborrhea while on fin. I’m not sure if fin was responsible for it, but I’ve gotten it under control since. I’m also on a low-carb diet and that might help too. Sugar, white flour and any fast carb feed the fungus. I wash my hair every day, so that it doesn’t get too oily (that also feeds the inflammation). Once a week I give my scalp a days rest, though. Currently I’m using a Finnish coal tar shampoo which seems to control the situation fairly well. It’s pretty mild and doesn’t contain a lot of ingredients, which seems to be good for my scalp.

Hi, I developed as well SD from propecia immediately after…
look on exploreyourskin.com/clinical_conditions.aspx (click on seborrheic dermatitis)
started in my ears. 9 years ago. There are many things written on the net about treatments… the best so far is using apple cider vinegar mixed with selsun for the hair. for the face get the oil off and use a cream with tar and sulphur mixed in vaseline or lannette creme. apply as thin as possible otherwise it won’t work. I mean thinner than thin… almost nothing.

also many things are written on curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=591

also humidity is important… not too much but also dry is not good.
so ideal should be around 45 / 55 with a lot of sun… but not too hot not more than 25 Celcius and not colder than 18 Celcius.
