Hope is still alive ...

hi all, let’s me thank all of you guys here first. because without you guys, i would not be able to fight this terrible pill by myself.

here’s my story … i took this pill for a month and decided to stop. a week later, i experienced some terrible side effects, such as hot flash during sleep, tired all day, heavy brain fog, high body temperature (but not a fever), blurry vision, muscles weakness, no sex drive, etc.

after struggling it for 2 weeks, hot flashes had slowed down, so i could sleep (not a deep sleep though). i would sleep and woke up 2 hrs later and then went back to sleep, on and off like that. brain fog and the rest were still there, but a little better. i started searching the net for info and finally found this forum. I read most of the posts and was very depressed afterwards. i really did not know what to do … but only hoped that i gave some time, my body would correct itself naturally. i pretty much lost all my interests on things i used to like. Exercising might help to unload my stress, so i joined a gym and started swimming and light weight lifting (it did help). i also tried to eat right everyday.

Now, 2 months later, i am thankful that i have improved a lot. hot flashes have stopped, brain fog is gone completely, so it makes me active again in my daily life. i can function like before at work. sleep is back to normal, but i have dreams every night which i did not have before. clear vision is back and sex drive has returned to normal, so as wood’s size. energy level is back, i’m not as tired as before. I won’t say i’m fully recovered, but at least it’s close. i am grateful about my current status compared to some posts i have seen. hopefully, i will get even better next month.

no doubt, the recovery is a painful progress, because it’s like a rollercoaster. sometimes you think you are improving, bang, the next day you feel shit. it’s confusing and affects your mood completely. I have taken some supplements, zinc, B6, E ocassionally. not sure if it helps, but at least it makes me feel right to do. today, i enjoy exercising often which i have not done for the last 10 years. importantly, i appreciate life more and more …

if anyone wants details, just pm me. i will do my best to share my experience, so it can benefit others. thanks again to you all.

that is good that you are feeling better. looks like you are one of those who recover naturally.

What I don’t understand about this thing is what is so different about apollo’s body that he recovered so quickly and there are those of us who stay screwed up for what may be an eternity?

Apollo18, was there anything you did that you think brought about the recovery or was it just one of those things that happened on it’s own?

Maybe his 3-adiolg recovered and ours didnt? Could be a possiblity…We could use some people who recovered and have them test for 3-adiol g if they wouldnt mind…We would have to put a fund together to fund this and also pay for their time to do this as an incentive…, but it makes sense…doesnt it?

l also experienced a significant recovery for five months of feeling 100% and then after a binge drinking weekend and much sex I experienced some of the sexual side effects again, namely loss of libido and lower hanging balls from time to time…

i guess everyone is different. Why on earth would I be OK for five months then?? and then have a return of problems…

Apollo18,

I’m writing this letter to see if you would mind getting your 3-adiol g levels tested.

There is atleast a group of 20 on here that wouldn’t mind helping pitch in for the test and also throw you some extra cash for your efforts.

If we could put together a fund of say $30 per person to pitch in, would you be willing to get the test done?

Thanks

joetz, i do not have the answer. in the beginning, i was just like most of you guys trying different supplements, such as zinc, B6, E, Flaxseed oil, etc, but i did not think that was the key that brought me to my current state. i was more careful of what i ate, but not up to a point that i had super healthy diet. as i mentioned before, i exercised more, but my intention was for my stress relief rather. now, i love it because i see i gain muscles, weight, and have more energy after doing it, plus it’s good for my health no matter what.

Right, so sounds like you recovered naturally per Merck’s claims. Be glad and enjoy your life – most here have been suffering far longer than 2 months.

thanks mew and also all the guys who have posted good info in this forum. this incident has definitely changed my view of life. now, i am a more relax person than before, enjoying life more in general and importantly appreciate things and people around me more.

I know this question has been asked a lot but do most recover?

I’m not off the drug completly yet because I’m trying to ween myself off over the next few weeks. I’m also using a topical testosterone to help boost my levels because proscar really dropped them down. I do feel a little better. I feel like I have some emotions back because I cried for the first time in a year the other day. In regards to errections, I can get them they just dont last long and are not super hard. I started the drug in Feb 08 and didnt notice side effects until towards the end of that year.

That question is indeed asked frequently… #8

i just wanted to give you guys an update for my condition after a month or so from my last post. i had improved again within this month, but in a slower pace. few things i noticed that my vision had got better under white light and my energy level had gained also. i still went to the gym, but i stopped weight lifting. because i think i was over doing it and my back muscles were hurting and created light headaches. i still watched what i ate and tried to have a balance meal. my sleep was ok, and i had less dreams. about my sexual desire, i would say normal. i still got strong night and morning woods, and when i masturbated, i got hard dick with no problem and good cum feeling. i kept taking 25mg of zinc daily which i think it helped for this part. one more thing, i started drinking a lot of water everyday, thinking it could wash away all the toxic things in my body.

Apollo -Thanks for the detailed account but it does seem that, unlike most of us on this forum, you recovered naturally, so the (very detailed) information you’re giving possibly doesn’t apply to (or help) long term sufferers.

Apollo,

This is quite interesting, as I recall when I came off of the drug initially I also had a sensitivity to bright florescent lights and wind. This was one of the first things that went away for me as well.
