Help to Avoid the crash

Just come off finasteride a week ago and very worried about having a crash, had mild symptoms on the drug like partial ED. My question is though that I’ve seen many reports off a crash following the 5AR receptors being ‘flooded’ with DHT and thus becoming ‘fried’ leading to the crash. So would taking an anti-androgen help make a crash less likely in theory and any ideas on how to go about this. Also any further tips apart from regular exercise/no drugs/ eating healthy that others have found useful

No tips (I’m not sure you can get anything but guesses) but good luck, buddy.

As far as I know, the crash phenomenon hasn’t really been closely studied and it is not well understood. The only thing that I think could be helpful is to gradually taper the drug over an extended period of time so that the change to your endocrine system doesn’t present an immediate and destabilizing shock. I don’t know how quickly it would make sense to do it and you already have stopped the drug for a week so I wouldn’t think it would make sense to restart the drug. Just a common sense idea without any evidence to back it up.

scientifically, that theory doesn’t even make sense if that were true, people taking Andactrim would probably get PFS as well. we simply do not know why people crash or what’s really going on so don’t take anything. wait it out you may be perfectly fine.

Probably the best thing is to try as far as possible to eliminate any potential stressors from your life at the moment, and that probably includes trying not to worry too much about your situation - easier said than done I appreciate. As there is likely a genetic component to those that are affected long term there may be only so much you can do to protect yourself, but anything you can do along the lines of advice has usually been the usual sensible diet, sleep, and moderate exercise. Some guys warn against masturbating too much also. At the moment it is all conjecture however. Most guys symptoms resolve.

I’ve been thinking about this as tapering isn’t reliable and doesn’t seem to be useful.

What if you spent the days leading up the DHT coming back online constantly high/drunk off alcohol and weed. Those things lower testosterone so maybe you could minimize it that way lol

You cannot taper finasteride…The dose response is so small your body will be hit by Dht any way you with it…
