I’m considering switching from Mirtazapine (15mg) which I have been on for about 4 months, to Trazodone. The sleep benefits on the Mirtazapine have pretty much crapped out on me. I don’t want to increase the dose because I believe the dose has an inverse effect with this drug. The more you take the less sedating.
So my question is, has anyone just switched from Mirtazapine to Trazodone without weaning off the Mirtazapine? What were your experiences? Any withdrawal symptoms? It seems that with such a low dose I could safely make the switch without too much of a withdrawal. I want to get as much info as possible before I ask my sleep doctor about trying this. She is really strict with the meds and will probably give me a hard time about making this change.
