Has anyone recovered from total numbness?

Here is my member profile: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6295

I have a lack of sensation from my prostate penis, testes and scrotum. It feels as though my kegel muscles have been disconnected. Flexing kegels does not move my testicles at all.

Zero libido. Nothing is sexually interesting.

Has anyone experienced this level of numbness and recovered? Even a little?

Now that I have talked to a doctor, what I was trying to describe above it loss of Cremasteric reflex.

Anyone else experience this?

Read through this sub forum, penile/scrotum numbness and insensitivity is a common complaint after use of Finasteride. Makes sense since it’s inhibiting DHT/androgen in those specific tissues where 5AR2 is located.

Yes I have that. Its what I described as the whole area being less responsive. Loss of cremasteric reflex is a nerve disorder. Did you see a neurourologist?

I have loss of Cremasteric reflex as well as being able to flex the Cremasteric muscle, ie, I cannot “flex” and move anything down there. muscle control of urine remains intact.

I only learned what it was called yesterday at the endo, or i would have posted this in my original complaint.

by recovered in mean even a little. I need a little bit of hope here. I know there are plenty of numb guys on here. But is anyone like totally, 100% limp? like u feel the part of your penus that runs inside your body feels non existant.

thanks anyone who can help

You may want to look into a neurological evaluation. Several of the guys on this board have been diagnosed with nerve problems, but unfortunately it is uncommon that there are treatments for this type of problem. I also have an absent cremaster reflex. While I’m not surprised, I never thought to check this until you mentioned it.

I’d be curious if anybody on this forum has a cremaster reflex intact. The reflex can be stimulated by stroking your inner thigh and should result in a contraction of the scrotum and testicle. In my case, I have zero response though it was fully present in my pre-Propecia days.

I see stories from time to time from people who have recovered numbness either for a brief period or permanently.

Cremasteric reflex is an interesting point and something I have discussed with Doctors as well. I have felt that my actual penis is somewhat responsive but it’s as if there is no support from the inside…hence no response to this type of testing.
It is concerning based on the effect finasteride has on the prostate and the hypothetical damage done to the surrounding area.
I have not spent much time researching this topic and it may have been discussed in greater detail previously but I’d be interested to see if users have had similar complaints.
