Has anybody ever been cured by Shippen / Goldstein / Jacobs / Crisler / Irwig / any other doctors?

Guys,

This is not to diss any of them. They are all great. They all have their own respective niche. It’s worth talking to them all if you have the resources. But have they ever cured anybody or are they still at the phase where they are simply experimenting with treatment options? Last time I talked to them, they could not quote stats on what percent of guys will respond to their treatments and whether the recoveries they have achieved (?) are permanent or not. They simply said it was too early to tell whether their patients can “fly on their own” after a period on Clomid / TRT / etc… / whether guys’ normal function can be restored and treatment discontinued.

I’m writing this on 27 Aug 2012.

Again, I want to applaud them all for showing an interest in our condition and trying to figure out the answer to our problem.

Thanks for any intel guys!

A better question is has anyone seen long term improvements from their treatments?

I’ve seen two of the three and had a phone consult with a third. There has not been one successful treatment of anyone with PFS to the best of my knowledge. As a matter of fact one of them told me we “live miserable lives”. This isn’t at all to say PFS is incurable as none of us know that yet. But, it does highlight the need to more media awareness and research.

out of curiosity, did this doctor predict we will forever “live miserable lives”, or was he just talking about the current situation?

I believe it was Goldstein who said it. Whether he thinks we’re doomed forever or not is irrelvant; he doesn’t have the knowledge to make a claim either way. The only ones you should listen to about such matters are our scientists over in Italy

I asked him if there was hope for a treatment/cure some day. This was early PFS days for me and I was naive. He stopped me and asked, “Do you want to know the truth?” Then proceded to tell me we live miserable lives. Might have been true but there were better ways to phrase it.

Gentlemen,

Dwelling on how miserable our lives are won’t help us the tiniest bit. Let’s just stay practical. The questions we have is this. Is there anybody here / does anybody here know of anybody who has ever been cured by these doctors / have they achieved any log-term improvement with anybody. They all seem to offer very similar treatment protocols, and they are doing their best. Have these treatments actually worked for anybody?

I’ve read on this website that some guys actually got worse from these standard treatments! We all need to decide whether to get treated or wait for some miraculous natural recovery. It would be great to establish (or at least get some clues for) the likelihood of success and the risks of Clomid / TRT, etc…

Thanks guy!

There is no consistent, universal, and reliable long-term pharmaceutical therapy.
