How long did they say finasteride lasts in the body after discontinuing use? I know the half life is a matter of a few hours, but I’m interested in how long it stays in body tissue.

The drug completely metabolizes relatively quickly.
I believe it’s posted somewhere on this site that the half life is around 6 hours. What the doctors don’t know is, it can take the body 30 - 45 days (or longer) to regenerate the 5AR enzymes that fin has permanently bound. My GP didn’t even know that 5AR is a suicide inhibitor.
If the 30-45 days is after a single 1mg dose of finasteride, would taking the drug for 3 months compound the situation?
No–it’s not an exponential equation. it’s more like… 30-45 days after your last dose of Propecia.

Sorry it took so long to reply to this. The half-life is around 6-8 hours but the REGENERATION of the 5AR-II enzyme takes 30-45 days to regenerate - and even then how does one know it’s been returned to it’s prior state? After I took 1 pill in June 07 I had a sudden surge of anxiety then crashed a week later into a black hole of depression that lasted for weeks. I came out of that depression only slightly over the next month or so. I tried to explain it to my doc like this: The USS Enterprise is your brain and the shields are the neurosteriods that protect it. Along comes Fin and suddenly your shields are down letting in all the asteroids and photons and aliens, etc, then the shields come back up but there’s no way of knowing what damage has been done, what bad shit is still inside, or even if the shields are going to work properly anymore.
