Had a meeting with some doctors, their thoughts

Guys i forgot to mention that i attended a urology/prostate convention three weeks ago and met up with some docs, a prof of neuro-urology, two urologists and another prof of prostatic oncology from mdanderson, houston.
They seemed very interesting and they spend about three hours talking to me about their use of propecia on patients and their findings, listened very carefully and looked upon all my tests related to my issue. Albeit they said they have used it mostly in older men but still they recognize the potential sexual side effects and have seen some in few young men. (they don’t deal with young men so much due to the nature of their work on prostate cancer)

They said they run a trial of finasteride in 3000 patients in the past in their institute with very mixed results.

They asked me to send them all data regarding studies done about fin’s long lasting sides and way of action.

I haven’t done that yet, really very busy this time of year, greece is facing a supposed crisis and everyone is busier than ever paying the new taxations and high cost of living lately.
Need to find some time to collect all the data or if someone can link all of them to me in a pm

Sounds like something worth pursuing as it very well could get more professionals directly involved. The study they ran with 3000 patients with “mixed results” is very interesting. I’d be curious to know what sort of mixed results they found. I’ve seen several posts and topics on here about how we don’t hear about many longterm side effects in older men. Maybe this could shed some light.

Data? More specific please. The data from the Italian study will not be released until after they publish their paper sometime next year. I think we can provide them with some of the current working theories, trends, our personal labs, skype interviews, etc. Many of us here in the states (myself included) would be very interested in cooperating with such a study, as long this is legitimate.

Did they talk theory? Do they have some sort of hypothesis?

Their opinion on the “Prostatitis” theory? I cannot imagine you didn’t share this with them.

I hope this story is legitimate considering the shananigans that have occured in the past. Because if not, it would be a pretty cruel hoax. On the face of it, this seems pretty major to “forget to mention”.

Thanks

Traish’s study and Irwig’s study are not free, but if these docs are part of a medical school they should have free access anyways. (or if you took part in Irwigs study you should already have a copy)

Not sure why a “prof of neuro-urology, two urologists and another prof of prostatic oncology” that have conducted studies on finasteride would need a laymen to tell them how finasteride works?

Then why would all we be considered anything important for the medical community in general?
We are nothing but a group of laymen for most, so noone would value our opinion and such specific testing done all them years, if you see it this way.

Among all the people that have this condition there must be a doctor or PHD level scientist in the group. I think JN was one, or I might be wrong.

JN claims to be a doctor, don’t think he’s posted his credentials, don’t blame him if he hasn’t.
