3000 genes might sound a lot, but it could be far less that initially was affected and then other genes had to change to try to compensate. That’s why they did the study, to track it all the way to the top and see if the AR could be the culprit.
They did neither discuss, or release all the gene data so I don’t actually know how likely the AR theory is. Maybe @axolotl could chip in (assuming he’s seen all the data).
I don’t know about creating a pill, but some kind of therapy might be avaliable at least. Research into AR and androgens are still going strong, because it’s relevant to prostate cancer. Maybe we’ll be able to use their data to our benefit.
Without having an idea, or lead about the underlying cause this would probably be unethical. Even if you sign stuff, I think the researcher or doctors could get punishment for it.
I don’t agree they have enough information, but I do agree that most doctors have way to little knowledge when it comes to hormones and how they affect each other and different receptors. While Derek knows more, he’s still believes using fin is a good idea (and his knowledge about PFS isn’t that accurate).
I understand your frustration and I really hope it’ll work out for you. I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it. Just have a theory about what you want to accomplish and an idea how to get there. Best of luck and keep us updated!
