Guggulsterone (Commiphora mukul)

Hi,

I am suffering from Postinfluenzasyndrome for a while. My aryurvedic practitioner recommended a supplement which contains gugul resin. Gugul resin contains Guggulsterone. Guggulsterone is a ligand on steroid hormone receptors: It is an androgen receptor antagonist. Was this a good or a bad thing? Please enlighten me about the current pathomechanism hypothesis and if this substance poses a threat to my health.
This substance is a common treatment in aryurveda and is used for a wide variety of symptoms. I find it interesting it reduces arthiritis significantly, accutane caused acute arthritis for me.

Thank you very much
