Grails blood test

Here are my blood test results. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

                                  My Result Reference Range

Testosterone 260 , ( 280-800)

Free T 6.53 , ( 4.0-16.0)

SHGB 17.8, (13.9-48.6)

DHEA 99 , ( 100-400)

DHT 24 , (30-85)

Estradiol 16 , (8-43)

FSH 2.8 , (1.5-12.4)

LH 2.8, (1.7-8.6)

Prolactin 10.4, ( 4.0-15.2)

TSH 2.93, ( .4-4.0)

Albumin 4.7, ( 3.4-4.8)

WBC 4.6, ( 4.0-11.0)

RBC 5.44, (9.4-12.4)

Hypogonadal score 28-29

Symptoms- ED, Low Libido, Bad Short term memory, Vision Problems

Tesosterone, DHT, E2 are all to low for a young guy, and with your low LH it indicates hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. But what also stands out is your low DHEA which can indicate adrenal fatigue (check your cortisol by blood, saliva and/or the ATCH test)

Your TSH is high which could indicate thyroid problem (check Free T4 and Free T3)

Everything points to hypogonadism. If you have been off propecia for a decent amount of time then treatment for the hypogonadism is in order. If you have only been off for a short period of time you could wait and see what happens and have further pathology at a latter date, but with testosterone so low I would have thought that would be unlikely.

The DHEA result is not conclusive by itself and would require further investigations. TSH is not high, but if you wish to check thyroid issue then you check for free T4 and free T3.

Definite hypogonadism that could well benefit from treatment…anything else questionable at this stage.

Thank you both for the insight. I took Propecia for a little over 2 months. I have been off it for 6 months now. Would that be considered a short amount of time or time enough to consider treatment. Legenden I will check t3, t4 and the adrenals. Isn’t my FSH low too as well as just about everything else including WBC and RBC. It’s time for an Endo- no?

Hypo you usually suggest what drug might be best and take a stab at explaining what part of the endocrine system is faltering. Can you help in this regard. I don’t know what hypogonadism is vs hypogonadotropic hypogonadism vs secondary hypogonadotropism. But with my symptoms I’m sure I have it.

Please anyone else I’d love to hear from you.

The range for TSH is very flawed. A TSH above 2 should be investigated further if you have hypothyroid symptoms. I consider a TSH at nearly 3 for high, as this in all the results I have seen have come with low free’s which mean hypothyroidism.
You canread more about it here: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com

Yes, your FSH is also on the low side, but its LH that matters for Testosterone production. FSH is the messenger for spermproduction.

Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism is another name for secondary hypogonadism.

Be sure to get the whole picture before jumping on any kind of treatments.

Nothing much for me to add here that hasn’t already been said.

Out of range values:
Testosterone 260 ( 280-800) – hypogonadal
[b]DHEA 99 /b – LEF recommended range is 400-500
DHT 24 (30-85)
RBC 5.44 (9.4-12.4) – Low Red blood cell count… talk to doc about possible Anemia (look up symptoms)? Might want to check this range with the lab…

Low values:
[b]FSH 2.8 /b
LH 2.8 (1.7-8.6)
WBC 4.6 ( 4.0-11.0) – approaching low end of the scale

High values:
[b]Albumin 4.7 /b — approaching range limit – high Albumin binds up free T

Estradiol appears good at 16, SHBG appears ok at 17.8, not sure how high it has to be to cause problems.

Prolactin 10.4 ( 4.0-15.2) – middle of the road… likely not an issue.

TSH 2.93 ( .4-4.0) – approaching 3.0, possible hypothyroidism according to newest range standards?

Looks to me like Secondary hypogonadism… Albumin may be binding up some free T, DHEA issues (adrenals), and low RBC (look into it with doc).

I’d be pursuing an endo to get you on some treatments to restore your endogeneous T production to higher levels (650-800).

Again this is all just a layman’s guess… so take it for what it is.

Here are some new blood values on me. Can anyone shed some light on them? Especially the thyroid and adrenal section.

  DHEA-78 (100-400)

   T ----311 (260-800)

  DHT---21 (30-85)

   T3----2.7 (2.3-5.0)

   T4---1.01 (.70 - 1.7)

   Albumin-- 4.8 (3.4 - 4.7)

What time did you take them?
I had a T like yours at 300, but then took them two weeks later at 8:20 am in the morning without eating for up to 12 hours prior, and was at 611 he said, so they say my T is fine now.

I took the blood test at 8:30 in the morning. Even though my T went up from 260 to 311, the 260 was taken at 3:30 in the afternoon. So there really is no improvement. In fact as you can see my DHT went down so I’m thinking even my T is worse. Plus he did not take a free T this time.
