Good Foods for Male Prostate

The prostate is essentially the engine that drives testerone production and creation of sperm for the testicles. This being the case, I figure we need to try to find the healthiest foods for our prostate and make sure we get enough of them.

Below is a description of how the prostate works with the testicles and how testosterone is produced.

What is the Prostate?

The prostate is a small walnut sized gland that is found in males. The gland lies directly below the bladder and in front of the rectum. The prostate is especially important to the male reproductive process. It is also one of the most common areas for men to develop cancer.

Sperm Liquid Production

The major role that the prostate plays in the human body is producing much of the liquid that accompanies sperm during ejaculation. This liquid is slightly alkalized to help the sperm survive against the high acidity of the vaginal tract. The alkalizing helps neutralize the acid, which helps the sperm survive longer. The prostate fluid is also what gives semen its milky coloring.

Sperm Transport

The prostate also contains 30 percent smooth muscle tissue. This muscle tissue helps propel the sperm out of the penis during ejaculation. This effectively transports the sperm, as well as the seminal fluid, from the prostate and testicles and out of the body.

How it Works

The prostate works using androgens, simply referred to as male hormones. The most important of these hormones is testosterone, more specifically dihydrotestosterone. The secretion of this hormone into the body helps regulate prostate function, as well as keeps the prostate working properly.

When I searched for the healthiest foods for the Prostate, Soy kept coming up as the number 1 food. I have always like soy and have been eating it for about 10 years. However, I recently reduced the amount of soy I eat due to the possibility it can increase estrogens in the body. This one is very controversial in that some believe it is very good and some believe it isn’t good for men. I will only consume this in moderation.

I guess we certainly won’t know the answer right now. One point I thought was very valid, the rate of prostate cancer in men in asia is extremely low. The asian population consumes high soy amounts.

Take a look at a few of these links, they all point to soy being one of the healthiest foods for the Prostate. We all should be even more aware than the average guy about what will make our prostate healthy.

Another food that came up consistently, green tea.

Again China and Asia doesn’t exactly have a problem reproducing so this shouldn’t surprise us; they also have a very low prostate cancer problems.

I also found that brazil nuts and Broccoli are linked to studies benefiting prostate health. Brazil nuts contain selenium, which helps guard the prostate. Be careful with this one though, apparently the recommendation is only two of these a day since the selenium content is so high.

If you guys have any other foods that are proven to be good for men’s health please add them and a link to verify.

Also, now that I just reread some of the description about how the prostate works, I found this interesting.

When I was taking this nasty pill, my sperm would just fizzle out of my dick very pathetically. There was never any explosion. That has since changed and I am now again having the explosive characteristic that comes from a healthy prostate muscle.

Any of you guys experience the same?

Mine has fizzled after I came off the drug and has not really gotten too much better. It seems it’s harder for me to flex those muscles. How long were you off before you noticed it getting better? Is it to pre-fin levels?

mystory,

Mine has been steadily improving. It’s been messed up for so long, I guess I forget what pre levels were even like. My guess would be not 100% yet.
The strange thing is that while I have improvement in areas like this and I get very hard during sex; I still have very little libedo, unless I’m very attracted to a girl and then I have woody immediately. I still have a dramatic loss in sensation as well.

It may sound odd considering I used this pill, but I was always a health freak, trying to eat the absolute best foods for my body. I have been a workout and healthfood freak before I ever touched this horrible pill.

Certain items contained in soy (isoflavones I think) are suppressive to the pituatary. I cut out all soy a couple of years ago after learning this.

I’ve read in several instances that soy promotes estrogen and blocks iodine in the body which decreases thyroid production.

I’ve noticed it’s hard to flex the prostate anymore. I try to flex when I’m at the gym doing all exercises. In fact it’s the only way I can keep my core in place. Doing this increases blood flow to the entire area and I get better response after this. But it’s hard and I can’t do it consistently
