Don’t bet on it. You will get some benefit, but it’s no walk in the park, that’s for damn sure. You need to go at least 2-3 months depending on how bad your symptoms are and optimally until you are symptom free, which could be different for everyone. Japanther is on over nine months already and he is sure he’ll be CURED before summer. I usuallly could only last 3mo’s at a clip before I caved, then restarted for another 3mos., cave, and repeat. Each time you cave, you set back the process.
Fasting makes going raw easier, cause after you don’t eat for 3 weeks, your taste buds have neuroadapted to no salt intake and no overpowering cooked flavors. The fruit tastes absolutely delicious and you relish every bite. I’ve never gone raw without fasting first. It is more of a challenge to do so. You’ll also be more uncomfortable while your body switches gears. This can last for months and MOST people just can’t hack it.
You may also not be eating enough. People are conditioned to think of fruit as something you have one or two pieces of and then you’re done with it. That’s not really the case if you want to survive extended periods of raw. You have to still make sure you are getting enough calories and that means eating ENOUGH.
Go to www.nutridiary.com to track your calories. Although, once you see how much you actually have to eat, I think you’ll decide that you’re not going to go any further. One cool thing about these sites, is that you can see (when you’re raw) how high off the charts your vitamin, mineral and phytonutrients are. It’s pretty impressive, and when you see it in black and white like that, you realize why it works.
The benefits of raw are absolutely amazing, as I’ve attested before, but it is not easy, and just when you think you can’t take it anymore, is exactly when you have to keep going. Easier said then done.
