As you may have read, GM CEO Mary Barra was called before Congress this week to explain why the auto giant waited so long to recall 2.6 million of its vehicles that it knew had faulty switches – a defect that has since led to 13 traffic deaths.

Now, someone please – PLEASE – tell me why Merck has never been called before Congress to answer for ITS defective products, products that have killed tens of thousands of customers around the globe?
And, I kid you not here, I actually own one of the GM cars that may have a faulty switch. I bought it new in 2006 – with my hard-earned money. And for the past 7+ years I have been driving it, unaware of the fact that the engine could shut off without warning while on the highway, perhaps killing me and other drivers.
What IS the loophole that allows drug companies to evade scrutiny and punishment that every other industry IS subject to in America?
