I didnt really have a traditional crash except for the fact that my penis shrunk by 50% literally overnight. Which was bad enough. I’d say its gone back maybe 10-20% in the last 6 months. Has anyone else had that overnight complete shrinkage? Othersides have appeared ince like muscle wastage, ED, depression, fatigue, etc. But I’d say extreme shrinkage and ED bother me the most.
I wasn’t trying to say that the ones who didn’t have the crash are likely to recover… just that of the few long-term recoveries I’ve seen on here, almost all of them, if not all, were people who recovered from symptoms that developed while on the drug.
hi thanks for your post. can you tell us anything special you were doing prior that may have corrected you. please pm if you have any information. the reason is because im a 22 yr old male. i took propecia for less than 30 days about 2 and a half years ago and sometimes my drive comes back in weird waves. did you experience this? like ill have no drive, then itll come back, and then it will go away.

Viagra is just a band-aide to our situation, and on some it stops working after a while. You need to get your cortisol levels and thyroid levels tested.

He’s not saying anything positive about Finasteride at all (unless you consider 6 yrs of ED “positive”). And hes not denying PFS. Matter of fact he explictly confirms it. So, I doubt he’s a Merck Rep. There are alot of guys just like him, who took Fin and never put the pieces together on what happened to him or never found this community. Not difficult to imagine when nearly every urologist, endo, GP, etc tells you Finasteride can never make you hypogonadal. Just sounds like he didnt crash as bad as some of us. I don’t see where he said he had shrinkage or tissues changes or complete loss of libido. So, it took him 4.5 yrs to recover from a “mild” crash. Thats not exactly proof positive he’s a Merck rep.
Actually, you should do your research before spouting off like that. This is an old user from the Yahoo forum. His bloodwork was posted here in 2006 by the Admin, when he also joined this forum himself (check his join date).
I just looked at his blood results, he had excepionally low LH and FSH but very good TT level in 618 and 631 (241- 827) and yet it took 10 years to hime to get normal. So some body who is very low in TT will take very long time I guess.
You guys have officially turned into your own worst enemies. It would be nice if we could keep the revised recovery section to recoveries and questions regarding them. I want to say more, but that alone should suffice. Congrats on your recovery.
Erection quality goes down over time for most, no? I hope things improve over time. I’ll be 50 in 10 years so it’ll be surprising if I have better wood at 50 than 40 lol
So just wanted to update from the past over a year ago.
Everything is still fine.
I think the only long term effect from having taken Propecia (and having stopped August 2005) was some penile shrinkage. I know I was about 0.75" larger in college than I am now.
But at least I’m getting hard and have libido which are 2 things I really didn’t have for 5 fucking years (libido) and 6 fucking years (erection strength).
God I remember in 2008 hiding a 25 mg of Viagra in my pocket when I went out with a girl and had to surreptitiously use it like an hour before we had sex.
And I also had the symptom of “gynecomastia.” I remember taking off my shirt in front of some girl back in 2006-2007 or something and she exclaimed, “Nice boobs!”
I had extensive blood work but I don’t remember seeing that Adiosol-G or something like that. But I remember a urologist telling me I’ve had extensive bloodwork on multiple occasions.
THE POINT I’M TRYING TO MAKE IS THAT ONLY TIME WILL FIX WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU. YOUR BODY HAS TO GET BACK TO WHAT IS NORMAL. HOWEVER, I AM A FIRM BELIEVER THAT THIS MAKES SOME LONG-TERM CHANGES BECAUSE I STRANGELY STILL HAVE MY HAIR. SO TAKING PROPECIA FOR 5 YEARS I BELIEVE STOPPED ME FROM LOSING MY HAIR ON WHAT APPEARS TO BE A PERMANENT BASIS (IT’S BEEN 6.5 YEARS SINCE I’VE TAKEN PROPECIA). YET I HAVE RECOVERED I ASSUME FROM MY BODY NATURALLY DEALING WITH WHAT THE PROPECIA DID TO MY BODY CHEMISTRY.
So just take Viagra (the smallest dosage you can 25 mg) to get the confidence to be erect with a woman and just wait this out and hope for the best. That’s all you can do. Don’t take any more pills to try to fix this. Just eat well and exercise and just try to wait this out.
However I will share with you a little secret. In 2009 I was fortunate enough to hook up with a young hot chick who was able to get me off orally like no one else before her. After an incredible weekend with her, that was the time I realized I was fully recovered (minus the penile shrinkage). So go out and try to find someone who turns you on, but you have to be in the right frame of mind to do this (I couldn’t have done this sub 5 years after Propecia usage).

Congratulations and thanks for returning to update us! I know there is a good chance you won’t see this message, but did you have any genital numbness or loss of sensation? As you know, a lot of guys on the forum have problems that are at least partially neurogenic so I am curious if this was reversible in your case.

I would want to think that he was much better of even during his bad years because he was able to make “it” happen with Viagra atleast…Viagra gives me a weak erection and premature ejaculate with a mild feeling of an orgasm. I tried having sex last week and came in four strokes…
There are people like me who have multitudes of problems and have no confidence to even try having sex…

I KNOW DUDE… DOESNT THAT SUCK!!! Same shit happens to me sometimes. Does it happen to you all the time? It happens to me, and its very frustrating. I used to be able to fuck girls for an hour if I wanted to. I could bang them til they screamed. Or at least please them for a bit until I got tired of it, then blast…
But now I feel like I almost like dont even want to go to bed with some girls, because of fear that I will disappoint them, and they will make fun of me! Its like very frustrating!!
I will say that sometimes it is a little improved. Also, I wonder that if I have A LOT of regular sex… if its just like anything else… any other muscle… in that if we train it…we can maybe in time train it to perform better!!?

I second your thoughts…I am damn unlucky because i quit the drug once to recover fully within a week and then started the drug after 4 months to crash in a few months and never recovered…how many recovered and then started again…lol.
anyways, i have had some consistent improvements over last four years which I will post in my section of the story…

This dude is 100% right, on all accounts. First only time can heal the damage done, because no one really has any clue how this drug works and how it effects us all on an individual case by case scenario. I agree 100% with the confidence thing, you need to get that confidence back before you can really feel recovered. Reading that recent post describes my exact situation, unfortunately I have been plagued with allot of mental problems as well. Slowly they are getting better too. Still have my hair 5 years later, so theres long term changes here. But I have officially turned the corner in the sex department, and can really get it going with the right women. Patience and self empathy go along way in the healing process. Last thing I would recommend is taking another drug to help, other than some Viagra/Cialis. Just my two cents.
