four years and counting

Hi, I have terrible brain fog, memory issues, cognitive and speech issues and all of the rest of the mental fatigue symptoms. i took Fin for about 2.5 - 3 years, but my symptoms only began about a year after I stopped taking it. I still have the symptoms, now 4.5 years later. Do you think that my symptoms could be from the Fin? Thanks

Yes. Could very well be. That probably isn’t your only question, but brain fog sucks, so…

Check out what this forum has to say about brain fog. Look into your adrenals with a thorough test, take something to ease your anxiety/stress if you have some, and take it easy. One step at a time.

Hope that helps.

ok thanks i will check out the forum about brain fog.
has anyone ever heard of getting brian fog sympoms about 1 - 1.5 years after going off fin.?

Should I speak to a neurologist or s/o else about hormone tests and stuff?

thanks

Are you less-attentive, losing train of thought, feeling bored, not finding the right words? If so it could just be what we are all probably going through - depleted adrenal support.

In terms of delayed onset, have heard of this maybe a few other times in my time here. It could easily be a progressive fatigue of those glands by an impaired relaxation ability, exploited initially by finasteride.

when it was really bad i felt like i was very drunk or brain damaged or something. I felt like i was in a different world. Could think remember or anything.

But the year and a half before it started I was better than ever.

Is “brain fog” usually irreversible. Does it cause perm. brain damage or something?

Unlikely to, no. It is a process to recover however.

We have made advances in this area. You should end up fine.

that’s good news,
Any advice to speed up or facilitate the process?

Brain fog is a symptom, not a condition. If you’ve had a year and a half after stopping finasteride, I’d think it unlikely (though not impossible) it’s the cause.

It could be any number of things - vitamin deficiency, adrenal fatigue, mild depression. Lots of things can cause these symptoms. How is your diet, lifestyle, stress levels, exercise etc right now?

Either way, it’s not going to be permanent, and may well just pass in time without treatment.

We can not prove it but most of us who suffer brain fog blame finasteride as the cause of this problem. I have always been clever and mentaly fast, but when taking the pill I felt so slow and with lots of memory problems, like have to re-read a page from a book because the lack of attention, and things like that…so. in my opinion, YES: your problem is caused by finasteride.
Have you checked your hormones. Take a look to the forum and find the best way.
We salute you.

if possible check neurosteroids from urine or any test u can find to.

ok thanks.

Is serious fatigue also a common symptom?

Yes many users report massive fatigue while on or after quitting. Read FAQ for list of side effects which are common to our syndrome.

solonjk,

I’m curious about the coffee comment. What effect am I supposed to notice? I feel terrible after I drink coffee now.
