Why does the former CDC director own that much in pharma stock?
More importantly, is something negative coming for Merck?

The CDC are not impartial they own several patents on vaccines.
She has worked at Merck since 2009 as the head of vaccines and part of her compensation was in Merck stock. There are a lot of questions to be asked here but I don’t really want to go down that rabbit hole.

Fair enough, but you have to ask why an insider might sell so much stock.
Maybe she knows about impending action against Merck?

It’s possible but that’s probably not the reason she’s selling. She still owns $10m and she sold a lot in prior years.
It would be illegal if she had advance notice of bad news and sold in anticipation of the stock dropping. There’s a good chance she’d get fucked because she sold a lot very conspicuously. It would be nice to see the company get crushed and have a Merck exec go to jail, but I’m not holding my breath.
