Finasteride -- used as Hormone Treatment in Transsexuals - note side effects of elevated Estrogen

Finasteride is one of many drugs used to feminize men thanks to shifting the androgen/estrogen balance to be in favor of estrogens; note similar side effects many here experience.

Hormone Treatment in Transsexuals

“… interference with the production of testosterone or its conversion to the potent metabolite 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can be exercised by drugs like spironolactone (AldactoneR) 100-200 mg/day. Finasteride is a potent 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor preventing the conversion of testosterone to DHT and therewith reducing its biological effect

Some effects from hormone treatment designed to increase Estrogen in men (more listed in the document, ie gynecomastia):

"…Spontaneous erections are suppressed within 3 months but during erotic arousal erections still occur in the majority of our patients, evidencing the relative androgen-independence of this type of erection. Testicular volume is reduced by 25% within the first year of hormone use. "

“… Not infrequently male-to-female transsexuals complain of a dry skin and fragile nails. This is a consequence of the reduction in sebaceous gland activity following antiandrogen treatment.”

Dude i know a shit load of people, who dont like your posts

Nobody says you have to like my posts, but if you want to get any help from doctors you need scientific proof to backup your claims. Otherwise you may as well just bury your head in the sand and give up.

I’m not saying that everything presented here is the reason for our problems, but is to hopefully serve as a starting point for investigation.

Would you rather this site not exist at all, so you can be kept in the dark as to how Finasteride operates, so you can keep guessing as to what potentially happened, while doctors continue to disbelieve your case? I highly doubt it.

Scientifically documenting Finasteride’s various mechanisms of action, to me, is the only way to prove our case and to hopefully get treatment. If you have a better way to get to the bottom of our syndrome, then by all means enlighten us.

sorry, mislead by the title re-edit after reading

No you are doing good work, i just was thinking of all those fina users out there.
