Hey all,

I found this interesting link on the net relating Finasteride and Progesterone. Could any of you (the ones who understnd of medicine mattters) explain in plain Englis the general implications?

Hello guys,

Well, I went to the doctor today, the guy is an urologist and andrologist of some recognition. I have lost all faith in the medicine community and I did not want to meet the guy at first, so I phoned the guy before actually meeting him. In the end I met him because he told me that he was used to treat proscar patients and because he LISTENED and believed what I told him.

To make along story short, they guy told me that he was used to treat old men (55 years and older) who had diffiuclties getting back their sexuality after taking proscar on a regular basis. These guys were old and had other circumstances that made difficult for them to recover: diabetes, prostate cancer, hipertension, andropause, etc. He told me that some of them took very long periods of time to recover, 1 or 2 years, and that he had never saw a case like mine. The case of a young man who took a dosis 5 times lower than that of his patients and had a hard time recovering.

I told him ALL about our situation: he denial of Merck and the medicine community, the other side effects that were not sexual and were ruining our lives, our theories on how finasteride screwed our brains, livers, prostates, genitals and God knows what else. I told him how were we fighitng this shit, our trial and error on clomid, liver cleanses, vitamins, herbs, ainoacids, etc. He always listened and was very receptive of my story. He´ll take a look at our websites (old and new) and other stuff I´m sending him and was not surprised that the big pharma companies were selling posion: the guy believes in curing with herbs and rarely prescribed proscar since it does not work that well to treat enlarged prostates in older men…

After checking my old blood test and knowing that I took clomid for more than a year he offered to treat me with HCG. I was not surprised: if one of the leading Endos in North America gave me clomid, I was not expecting him to do better. But I consider this a fruitful visit for three reasons:

  1. The guy actually listened. He´ll check on our situation and he may help us to create awareness.
  2. I forced to make some prediciton on my full recovery and he chanced me to an 80%, considering that I have already overcome some 9 side effects (out of 14) and my situation keeps improving. He also considered that its been such a long time since my last propecia pill. This 80% estimate is a lot better than the 50% I got form that top endo a couple of years ago. I got a new breath of fresh air and hope.
  3. He warned me against Progesterone. He said that progesterone was an exclusively feminine treatment and hormone, different from Clomid. I told him that finasteride does much more than inhibiting 5AR2, it also affects the allopregnenolone production and the GABA neurotransmitter, so I´ll send him our findings on progesterone and its link to finasteride, he´ll give us a very proffessinal approach on how to use progesterone to our problem. I´ll share his response when I have it.

That´s all for the moment. By the way, I´m not getting into HCG. I´ll stick to my program for the following months and will take my chance on progesterone. I´m posting this message int the new forum, on the General section under the ¨Finasteride and progesterone¨section that I created.

Hang in there Dyna, we are all in the same boat and it´s true: most of the people here have improved over time, the challenge is to make this improvement definitive.

Why not give HCG a try? Is there somthing about HCG that you dont like? Sure its dangerous in high doses, but so is anything. If you keep it under 250IU at a time I dont think its dangerous at all. It could be just what you need?

Have you got any blood tests? I cant find them.

I´ll give HCG a try if in 2 - 4 months my current program does not work. The thing is that my current program IS actually working. Yes, I have 4 blood test and a sperm count but I have not loaded them in the website.
