Finasteride facial changes theory and fix (wrinkles, extreme facial fat loss)

I have noticed that many of us have experienced facial changes that are not understood by other users with PFS. These symptoms are very debilitating to the point that many of us cannot look at ourselves in the mirror.

Here, I wanted to discuss possible solutions to this problem, rather than focus on the symptoms.

On the other hand, I have a theory about what might have happened. When I was taking finasteride, my face started looking like a baby or a girl. It is clear that the high level of estrogen and the low levels of DHT were the cause of these symptoms.

When I stopped the medication and due to the dramatic increase in DHT levels and the drop in estrogen, the face lost all the fat we had (the fat we had gained due to the use of propecia and part of our baseline) drastically. On the other hand, the hypersensitivity of the receptors to DHT causes the increased loss of elasticity and the appearance of new wrinkles (in my case it has been in the skin of the whole body).

Here are some links to people who have undergone sex change therapy. As you can see there is an increase in the quality of the skin, hydration, disappearance of wrinkles and increase in subcutaneous fat:

One finasteride user reported dramatic changes in not only his hair but also his facial appearance, looking much younger after the finasteride treatment:

It seems clear, that DHT has a function of worsening skin quality. In the baseline state, many of us have a specific sensitivity that is altered (upregulated as a result of the medication. I really think that the only way to solve this would be maybe to try growth hormone (or peptides) or try low doses of finasteride (which I don’t advise but it would be really something curious to check, although in the long run it can be much worse)

I create this thread also to centralize all of us who are being affected by these symptoms. I don’t think they provided or more DHT is the solution to these symptoms. On the other hand if someone has noticed improvements with TRT in this sense it would be great to report it and get more information.

In view of this, I am thinking that perhaps a possible solution would be to try low doses of finasteride (0.25) daily for a while (with cialis and arginine to avoid atrophy in the penis). And withdraw the medication by reducing the dose very gradually while increasing the calorie intake during the period of withdrawal.

Logically, this could lead to a worsening of other symptoms. But there is my theory.

No, your skin ages because androgen receptors are responsible for 50% of collagen in the skin. PFS causes skin thinning and dryness because of androgen receptor dysfunction.

I experienced the aging of my skin whist still taking finasteride. As a proviso there may have been brief periods where I stopped if I had run out. I was also on an anti-depressant at the time too. Despite personally having no scientific knowledge, I just wanted to advise @lacpaz that despite these provisos, as there is no definitive answer just now as to what has happened to us, I would urge extreme caution, beyond the obvious in considering going back on finasteride, as it is entirely possible that with me the damage occured whilst using the drug. I welcome however your theories, although these specific cases you post don’t equate to evidence as there does appear to be a degree of idiosyncratic response across the board.

The guys you posted about look borderline transgender.
