Finasteride, diabetes, and low testosterone

So, this is something Mew just brought to my attention: finasteride users have an increased risk of diabetes apparently.

Combine this with the fact that diabetes is often accompanied by low testosterone (cbsnews.com/stories/2004/12/ … 8541.shtml) and this really starts to seem quite scary.

Has anyone here with low T also had their glucose tested?

I have. My gulucose levels are a bit high, and my testosterone is low.

Well, you have to take into account that I gained a lot of weight since I have a very sedentary life. Maybe that´s why.

Regards.

Yes, I have. You can see the results in my hormone profile in the Hormones section. By all accounts it is normal…

Certain forms of diabets have been found to be caused by a problem with the hypothalamus and low testosterone is sometimes caused by the same problem, so the root cause of both could potentially be the same in some cases.

Low SHBG in combination with low testosterone absolutely is linked to diabetes.

Also 1 in every 3 men with type two diabetes has low testosterone so the association if not cause is very well known.
