Finasteride at a young age and bone growth/development

Hey everyone,

I took finasteride for 2 weeks at age 19 and for 6.5 months at age 22. I am now 26.

Since I took it at a young-ish age, I am wondering if there is any evidence that finasteride could affect bone development.

I did notice facial growth after age 19 and I’m not sure if the 2 week trial I did is significant, but I am a bit concerned about the 6.5 month period I was on it at age 22.

I’ve read that growth plates in the ribs and clavicle aren’t completely fused until around age 25. And the face changes until mid 20s as well I think. Most growth plates are closed by age 22, however.

I did a search and this is all I could find on it.

press.endocrine.org/doi/full/10. … 001-011902

Since it says that 5ar1 is found in bone and not 5ar2, does that mean finasteride would have no effect? Does anyone know?

I’m not very knowledgeable about the significance of different 5ar enzymes. How significant is serum DHT level in all of this? That’s reduced with finasteride by 70%, but then you read about 5ar1, 5ar2, and local production of DHT in different parts of the body, so I don’t know.

Thanks for any information.
