Hi Guys,
I am new this forum and haven’t actually taken Finasteride (or it’s variants) myself, however I have dealt with Hypothyroidism, sub-clinical hypogonadism and adrenal fatigue for most of my adult life, which resulted in a collection of symptoms very similar in nature to Propecia sufferers (if not identical). I am well versed in endocrinology and hope to offer allot of value to the members of this forum over the next few months.
I am posting here on behalf of my father, who recently was prescribed Finasteride for Benign prostatic hyperplasia. Because I am aware of this drug (and it’s dangerous side effects) due in part to my own situation, I stopped him from taking the drug before he even got the prescription. He was prescribed the drug not for hair loss, but due to having “some” difficulty urinating (related to prostate enlargement). He has no problems passing urine but has a constant feeling of not fully emptying his bladder. He was prescribed Finasteride 5mg Tablets and told to take them for the rest of his life.
Obviously I don’t want my father to take this poison and wanted to know if any members are aware of alternative medications or therapy’s for BPH that I can look into?
Thanks in advance!
David
