Fin/rogain/minox questions

Hello!

I’m new to this forum so I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right section, but I just have a couple of questions regarding the different treatments for MPB (I know this isn’t a hairloss forum). It seems that people on these kind of forums know more about this stuff than medical staff and doctors.

Yesterday I actually calmed myself by saying that I could stop my hairloss by starting on proscar, but before I ordered some I decided to have a last check up on the side effects. I told myself that a 2% chance of reduced sexual function was worth the risk. So I did a google search for proscar and this site popped up as #7 on the list. I’m really glad I stumbled across this site however, as it seems that it’s not such a good idea to introduce DHT inhibitors to your body.

Asking simulair questions on hairloss forums hasn’t given me many answers either, because they’re more concerned about their hair than what this drug could possibly do to your body.

I also read that some people experienced side effects by using rogain and other topical solutions aswell, but some claimed that it wouldn’t enter the bloodstream, and therefor was safe to use. I’m just starting to wonder if DHT “blocking” etc. is generally a bad thing. If I’m not mistaking, rogain also has this DHT effect. Is there nothing that’s safe to use to help slow down/stop hairloss? I used a shampoo named fungoral a while back with 2% ketokonazol (don’t know how it’s spelled), which is simulair to nizoral, but while everyone said that this was safe to use for a hairloss treatment, the instructions said that hairloss could be a possible side effect.

I’m just wondering if it actually is safe to use shampoos with ketokonazol, since it also effects DHT.

Thanks for any answers in advance, and thanks for making this site and warning future users of finasteride. My sympaties to those who suffer from the side effects of this drug. I was worried about hairloss, but if I’d started on proscar and experience what some of you on this forum have experienced I don’t know what I would do. Frankly I’m tired of the greedy industry of hairloss.

i think it’s incorrect to state minox has a dht effect because in the drug info guide i got with my carton it states basically they do not know how minox works

it’s a blood pressure drug so it must work on that mechanism

i stopped it after a year about a week ago to see if my lingering sides will abate even though i got the sides before using it it still is absorbed into the bloodstream and must be detoxified by the liver

yes, you’re probably right. I’m not quite sure how it works, just picking things up as I’m researching on my own. Thought I read somewhere that it effected the DHT in the hair follicals. I’m just trying to find out if hairloss products that effects DHT could have possible side effects, because it seems like there’s really nothing “safe” out on the market when it comes to prevent hairloss.

I’m currently in a situation I guess alot of you were when you decided to start finasterid. The only thing I’ve tried is fungoral (nizoral), but I’m not even sure if that’s completely safe to use, if it does effect your DHT. Thanks to this site, finasterid is out of the question. As for rogain I don’t think I’m comfortable with puting something into my body that the manufacturer “doesn’t know how works”

It’s kind of scary, when you read up on hairloss sites, these drugs are all over the place, being recommended by the admins (which is usually a “trustworthy” source), users, etc. After finding this site I strongly believe that if you’re on fin you’d experience some side effects sooner or later.

Info on Minoxidil:

drugbank.ca/cgi-bin/getCard. … =APRD00086

It does not inhibit DHT, but like any medication, everyone reacts differently. Some users have reported heart palpitations, dizziness etc… likely due to it’s effect on blood pressure.

Inhibiting DHT in the body, wether naturally or pharmaceutically, always has the potential to cause problems since you’re interrupting a natural process. You might want to give topical Revivogen a try and see how that works for you.

Nah, f*ck it. I just wanted to find something that would slow my hairloss down, or atleast not have a bad effect on my hair/body. I’d much rather be a bald man than a hairy woman, with all the DHT blocking going on. So at this point I just want too find a shampoo or something that atleast isn’t bad for me:)

I’m also wondering if anyone know if creatin can increase hairloss, or cause other implications. I’m not currently using it, but I’m considering to add a supliment to my workout. Anyone know more about this stuff?

Thanks for replies
