Song sounds like it was penned by a PFS or PAS victim!
Some readers here will know that my wife of 50 years passed away in April.
I’ve been remiss in not posting to this thread, or to the Forum in general, much since that time.
Last night as I was finishing up my evening, the words lonely days and lonely nights came into mind. This morning I found the song.
This tune was penned by the Bee Gees long prior to their disco time. The video I’ve chosen is from late 1970. (One of the first music videos made that I know of.) It shows each of the three BG members alone, and then meeting up.
The significance of this song is that the Bee Gees had broken up as a band for over a year, and this was one of the first songs that they wrote upon their reuniting. (They also wrote the song How Can You Mend a Broken Heart immediately after the group got back together.)
The song speaks to me because after all those years, every day and every night is lonely for me now. I hope you enjoy it. Jim
So sorry to hear about your loss Jim. Sending my condolences. I can’t even imagine how difficult it must be for you
I tried offing myself over this PFS crap a couple years ago, and she’s the one that saved me. And everyday is so hard, she’s not here for moral support anymore. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Jim
Victim - Avenged Sevenfold
This song pretty much sums it all up. In fact, the whole album looks like a very accurate metaphor to PFS/PSSD. I recommend listening to it fully, it’s a bit blood boiling but at least put our suffering in words and great music.
Lyrics to comfort us PFS sufferers, from this song. I listen daily, or more, to be reminded:
Don’t give up
'Cause you have friends
Don’t give up
You’re not the only one
Don’t give up
No reason to be ashamed
Don’t give up
You still have us
Don’t give up now
We’re proud of who you are
Hello all!
I hardly believe it’s been nearly a year since I posted a song. Today I have an excellent song that really touches me as both a widower and a PFS battler.
The YouTube channel suggested this song last month, and I almost didn’t play it except the title drew me in.
Don’t give up, Performed by the duet of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
The male side of the duet sings about how life is hard, how he’s beaten down. The part I really like is the female reply. She keeps telling him don’t give up, with words of encouragement.
Throughout the song the couple is hugging each other, which especially appealed to me since I haven’t had my wife to hug for over a year now. That physical comfort and the emotional support can bring tears to my eyes every time I listen to the song.
What follows are the female’s lyrics, which I think are of greatest Comfort to a fellow PFS sufferer.
This lady pleading with her man not to give up could be the anthem of us PFS victims.
Where are all the music lovers?
Kate Bush lyrics:
Don’t give up
'Cause you have friends
Don’t give up
You’re not beaten yet
Don’t give up
I know you can make it good
Don’t give up
You still have us
Don’t give up
We don’t need much of anything
Don’t give up
'Cause somewhere there’s a place
Where we belong
Rest your head
You worry too much
It’s going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Don’t give up
Please don’t give up
Don’t give up
'Cause you have friends
Don’t give up
You’re not the only one
Don’t give up
No reason to be ashamed
Don’t give up
You still have us
Don’t give up now
We’re proud of who you are
Don’t give up
You know it’s never been easy
Don’t give up
'Cause I believe there’s a place
There’s a place where we belong.
I hope you’ll give the song a listen. Jim.
As most of you know, I’m an older guy here due to Proscar, not Propecia. That said, those that know me are aware my wife of 50 years passed away last year.
Elaine was my rock through this PFS horror show. It has been difficult for me to soldier on without her support. More days than I’ll admit, I want to give up and join her in the afterlife. As time passes, it seems ever more likely, especially now as my joint aches and muscle weakness grows.
Today I was listening to old songs and thinking of my Elaine, as always. A 50 year old song that was new when we were just starting life together hit me hard. Listen?

This was beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
