ECT electroconvulsive shock treatment as therapy

He didn’t explain. I hope I benefit from it, for all our sakes.

Had the seventh one today and talked to my doctor afterwards, he said we could do another 3. He also told me that there seems to be a problem with my brain, and that I’m not responding very well to drugs, that they are forced to give higher than normal doses of anesthesia. I might attempt another HPTA restart with triptorelin once I complete these ECT series…

Has he hypothesised what could be wrong with your brain, or how finasteride use could cause this? Would he consider writing up a paper about it?

Well, to be honest I don’t even remember exactly what he said, ECT does make you forget things… I can talk to him again later and let you know. This is extremely disappointing, I had high hopes for this, and I still feel exactly the same, after almost 10 years and countless therapies…

Ten years OFF the drug? Thats a long time to have symptoms
I’m sorry this didn’t help you

I spoke to my niece (who’s a psychiatrist) today, she said that it generally happens to drug addicts, the body, liver eliminates the anesthesia too quickly. That’s what was happening to me, and I don’t even smoke! The doctors doing my ECT kept staring at me and I wondered why. Our livers are fucked, I think.

Thanks joetz, it’s a real torment especially since I have normal-high libido and attract the interest of women often. I’ll have 2 more ECTs and complete the series to 10, just in case.

vanquish could you please ask if its a cyp3a4 metabolised medicine.
better yet, ask the name of the molecule

She’s at work now, I’ll ask this evening and let you know.

is what she said.

Does that mean that because drug addicts are constantly taking drugs that their bodies adapt and kinda of go into overdrive in order to remove the drug from their systems?

Are you taking any other prescription medications or are you on a herb cycling protocol of any kind that could possible explain this? Do you drink?

I feel like there is a chance that you may be onto to something huge with this. First off tell these doctors that you would be willing to submit to a drug test to prove that you are not taking drugs. Next tell them that you would be willing to submit to on going drug tests if they would be willing to use their resources and connections to investigate this further. They are obviously interested in why you are not responding to drugs normally. If you already have their attention perhaps all you need now is their trust which you could get by the drug screening offer.

Ask them if they can test you extensively for any evidence of a DHT inhibitor being stuck in your body that maybe your body is in constant overdrive mode trying to get rid of. Maybe we all have leaky gut syndrome and the DHT inhibitor leaked out of our intestines into our blood stream and our livers can’t flush it. Or maybe the finasteride permanently binded to the 5ar enzymes or receptors and our bodies see this as being a drug that constantly needs for be “flushed” like we just took it.

It’s a long shot but either way if your abnormal reaction to getting put under has their attention take advantage of it.

Please keep us posted with this. Sorry you have to go through this.

Hello. I visited the forum today after some time and I don’t remember posting any of these, since ECT causes partial amnesia. I’ll have to speak to my niece to be able to answer your questions. By the way, I don’t recommend anybody try ECT, it made me feel horrible, I was banging my head to walls 10 days ago. It made no changes whatsoever in PFS symptoms either. I feel better now, like pre-ECT.

In other news, my endocrinologist had sent me to a stem cell doctor on monday. The stem cell doctor told me that they could probably try stem cell treatment on me (using stem cells from donor placenta). I told her my story and she said that she’ll let me know after discussing it with my endocrinologist and other doctors.

One of the interesting things that she has told me is that sexual function is a “luxury” to the body, which means that when there is severe trauma to the body, it’s the first thing that gets shut down while the body attempts to repair itself.

I’ll let you know when I have more news and info…

@5 alpha victim: I rarely drink, I don’t smoke and I wasn’t using any drugs or herbs.

this is a much better option than ECT. i think this kind of treatments has thepotential to cure, and there has been one person on this forum at least who tried it with what seemed like very good results

The stem cell doctor wanted me to send her an e-mail, telling my whole PFS story from the beginning. I sent it yesterday. I hope they accept to give me this treatment.

I theorized about this a couple of times. 2 days after i stopped finasteride i got hyper sexual in the evening, next day everything was gone. Could it be that our livers are just hyper excreting/conversing our hormones that were affected by finasteride so that we are left without any? I think this could be a very possible explanation of pfs.

Same thing happened to me PFF with the hyper-sexualness after quitting. What does this mean?

So I spoke to my niece today, and she said that it doesn’t necessarily mean something, it could happen in people who have used a lot of drugs, or that some people just have faster liver metabolism. She said that she sees the same in her patients often.

thanks for the feedback
