ECT electroconvulsive shock treatment as therapy

Thats written as topic on webpage propeciahelp.com
Why not tryin ECT? This therapy used in people with heavy depression and other mental disorders
is maybe worth a try. Its effecitveness is to reset the brain chemistry!

ECT = electroconvulsive shock treatment

There was a recent article about how ECT causes damage to brain connections.

I am not absolutly sure about the safty of this therapy. But I didnt see any hint which shows an impact of ECT and damge of brain. It is used as a therapy in mental disorders. Maybe mnestic sideeffects, which are reversible over time.

Reversible? Like reversible propecia side effects?

Some of the biggest improvements I had were using the alphastim

I’m actually considering getting this done. Most of the studies published so far hint that people with PFS have messed up brain chemistry. I talked to my niece who is a psychiatrist and she says I could try it. She’s on vacation now, I’ll talk to her about it again when she’s back. The study just released by Harvard also says:

“As sexual function worsened (ie, as IIEF scores went down), there was increasing activity in the neural circuits corresponding to sexual arousal and decreasing activity in brain regions associated with higher level cognitive and motivational networks in symptomatic finasteride users in response to erotic stimuli. This dissociation in activity may be a marker of neural changes postfinasteride use.”

“Symptomatic finasteride users also reported a slightly greater number of subjective cognitive complaints. However, we found no objective evidence of cognitive deficits using comprehensive tests of multiple domains of cognition. It is possible that mood and cognitive complaints may be related to reduced neurosteroid production due to persistent local inhibition of SRD5A activity in specific brain regions (42), which was not reflected in changes in peripheral DHT levels.”

“The men reporting persistent sexual symptoms had depressed mood, negative affectivity balance, and patterns of brain activity that correlated specifically with sexual and negative affective symptoms, and included regions known to be involved in sexual function and depression, respectively.”

before ect give transcranial magnetic current a try or Transcranial direct current stimulation.
im considering these they are effective for depression

Integrati g folowing

I went to a psychiatry clinic today, and explained my case. The doctor there said they’ll let me know in a week if I can have ECT or not. My urologist will also talk to them.

I had my first ECT yesterday. It gave me a headache and my jaw hurt for a while, and I slept a lot during the day. I’ll have it at least 7 times, maybe more. I’ll report if I notice any changes, it’s too early yet.

keep us uodated and thank you for sharing this.
i hope it will help you

Thanks for the update. Any other info you can provide? Were you awake during the procedure? You said you slept a lot, was that a result of the procedure (I assume) and were you having trouble sleeping before the procedure.

I have some depression that runs in my family. My father told me that he had ECT in his younger days and that it cured him of depression for years. Have you noticed any changes in your mood?

I had the second one this morning. My psychiatrist says it generally takes at least 7 times to feel a difference, maybe more. So it’s too early to say anything. I had a cold the first time, so I was feeling much worse and slept all day. I feel normal today, not sleepy or anything. I don’t feel anything during the procedure since it’s done under anesthesia.

I have used an alphastim which uses an electric current from a nine volt battery. It took me a month before I noticed a difference. I used it every day. Vast improvement in cognitive abilities. My sense of direction got much better. No more wandering around parking lots looking for my car because I couldn’t remember where I parked it. I’m eager to hear more about the results of ect

joetz could you please tell me where you put the electrodes ? is it for vagal nerve or cranial?

Could you give us some more info on the model and use of alphastim. Is it from here alpha-stim.com/

Thanks

Other treatments for sleep and brain are neuroon.com/ as a sleep aid.

Mine is the alpha-stim scs. I’m not sure if they make that model anymore

where do the electrodes go ? ears or skull?

You attach them to your ears

I had my 4th ECT today, and I still don’t feel any different, 3 more left to do. The doctor who does it asked me today if I use any illegal drugs (I don’t). He told me that they’re having difficulty putting me under anaesthesia. I wonder if it is another nasty side effect of fin…
