Welcome Ali. I’m curious, what prompted you to make a member story now after so many years? I’d be interest to know

Lurking for years
Made a post several days ago about a almost recovery on high dose of dhea. I won’t make that post again.

Hi!

Your topic from several days ago has been accepted/restored:

The only action a new member needs to take to have their rejected content restored is to request it from a moderator after their member story has been accepted.

If you ask after your member story is accepted, there is no valid reason for us to refuse restoring it unless the content violates one of the community guidelines.

We need more people involved in the fight.

I’ve had the same experience with DHEA lol. These temporary recoveries at least provide lots of hope that we can eventually get back to normal with research and targeted treatment.

I know when you went back on fin you had a full (?) recovery. How similar was it on DHEA?

Although DHEA converts to testosterone it can also bind to the AR so may be considered somewhat of an anti-androgen.

Hello,

I had post finasteride (dutasteride) for 15 years, still have in a way but I tried something that works weirdly good. That’s DHEA.
I tried 10-50mg with no effect at all. Then took 1g because I was desperate and my libido came back (40-70%) and after 6 months I can say it works pretty well. 1g every 5-8 days gave me my libido back, at an acceptable level.
I bought dhea powder, before that tried testosterone, dht and a lot of things with no success during more than ten years.
Starting going bald again, getting more hair and muscles.
If I stop FPS is back.
Why? Still a mystery.
If someone can explain. Maybe it could help to understand what’s happening to us.
I’m not encouraging you to try. I truly think we all have different kinds of PFS, there is maybe a spectrum in this disease.
Good luck.

What brand of DHEA were you taking ?

It doesn’t matter. Search for dhea powder and that’s all.

Its still working. When I stop libido is 0, but still losing hair and have a weird itch in the scalp.
I’m trying 500mg every 3 days and it’s the same. Still not perfect but never feel better in years.

Ok, going to give it a try. What about other PFS symptoms like brainfog, vision, dry skin did it help you with any other symptoms?

Thanks!

Yes my vision improved a lot. But not at first.
When I started it was worse, but I gave it time and now I’m thinking about stopping dhea, just to see how my body is handling it.
My libido is not perfect but it feels so great to know what its like to be attracted to the body and stuff.
I cannot encourage you to try. Like I wrote, I truly think FPS is not just a 1 way to be sick, there is a spectrum or maybe different kinds of the same disease. It could hurt you.
It could help you. But you cannot know. It took me months to realise it was really helping. It could take you months to realise it destroying you.
Be careful.
It’s the best cure for me. Maybe not for everyone.

I stopped 10 days ago and my sex drive is a yo-yo. Still better when I had PFS the old way.
But I have pain in my lower back and something that could be my prostate. And in my scalp. Still losing a lot of hair btw.
I will take dhea again in a few months or sooner if I feel its needed.
My understanding is that my androgen receptors are still hypersensitive but they don’t shut down like before. Maybe because they are less sensitive, or because the shut down is less effective, it that makes sense.
