Everybody here DOES realize that DR Thierry Hertoghe (world-leading endocrinologist) TAKES finasteride??? He believes our problems are due to inflammation.

Inflammation due to what? Immune response? If he believes the answer is so simple, why hasn’t he proposed a treatment?

Ask him.

ahhahahha snap

I strongly believe inflammation has some role. for the last month I am having swelling in my legs around and above ankles, hands, forearms etc. when I was on Agel I got almost the same issue, swelling and water retention. I have posted about post Arimidex side effects viewtopic.php?f=27&t=6893&p=59971#p59971. These are almost 100% same as fin. Interestingly these women are complaining about sex drive loss, osteoporosis, tingling, numbness, vision problems etc after their Estrogen returns. They are low vitamin D too and many tell that after taking vitmain D they feel better. I conclude that

1-since testeoserone and Estrogen work togather loss of either hormone will cause the same effects.
2-our body somehow turns against our own hormone and when it returns it causes inflammation which over time get worse for some people.
3- vitamin D is a works as anti-inflammatory agent. for example wellnessresources.com/health/articles/vitamin_d_is_a_powerful_anti-inflammatory/

I used finasterid for 19 years.
I just found out in a Swiss newspaper - just a month ago! - how dangeorous finasterid can be in terms of severe depression symtoms and suicidal thoughts. So I stopped my treatment on the 13th of September/2013 right away.

Now I believe it’s time for me to visit a doctor who knows (at least a little…) about these shit side effects. Time to make a general check-up I think…

I just made an apointment for a consultation with Dr Thierry Hertoghe, in Belgium.
Unfortunately - believe it or not! - the first possible meeting date as a new patient which can be offered to me is for… mid of June 2014!

As this guy is also really expensive, if would like to know if somedy else went to Dr Hertoghe during the last 2-3 years?

There is a 10-month waiting list to see Dr Hertoghe. There are other Dr’s at the clinic however not all of them work the same way as Dr H. Therefore, you need to email the secretary and ask which Dr’s use the same methods etc then you can get an appointment within a few months with a different Dr. Once your a patient you can easily transfer over to Dr Hertoghe. Medical testing is extensive and about 50-100% cheaper than Harley St. They use the most advance Labs in Europe for all their testing. Until the research studies are completed it may not be worth going to Belgium but if your looking for open minded Dr’s who can prescribe a wide range of hormones this clinic is as good as any in Europe. Medications can be bought from their preferred pharmacist(s) in Belgium. Budget airlines offer cheap flights to Belgium. Some patients arrive in the morning and fly out in the evening. The airport is about an hour from the City centre and can be accessed via a shuttle bus service from the airport.

“Most of my British patients tell me that they have seen a physician and been told it’s all in their heads. In this case, we had got to point where something had to be tried. The NHS is a system which doesn’t allow for alternatives. People have to come to me for an alternative.”

Here a list of docs trained by Thierry:

Dr. Mutter in Offenbachhttp://www.dr-mutter.de/
Heard mixed experiences but the only Hertoghe doc in Germany so far…

Dr. Annette Gadomski
somewhere at Belgian border close to Aachen, heard only good stories so far

Dr. Paolo Accornero
Milano
studiopaoloaccornero.com/

Dr. Ascanio Polimeni
Roma + Milano
studioapolimeni.com/

There is another one in Perugia but I don’t know the name.

Dr. Miguel Martinez Del Campo
London and somewhere in Spain
tel: 0777 5934457
I think he is the only one in the UK.

And then there is of course:
Dr. Thérèse Hertoghe
Woluwé Saint Pierre
+32 2 46 30 300

Maybe currently the best because it seems a bit chaotic at Thierry`s at the moment… but regular waiting time is 1 year. Consultation costs half compared to Thierry.

Dr. Hertoghe is a somewhat controversial doctor…

He is known for injecting rich people with testosterone as a treatment against
aging. However, he is familiar with finasteride syndrome, and has treated
finasteride patients…

I don’t really know what to think of him, he is definitely frowned upon by the “medical
scene” here in Belgium… But since am lucky enough to live close to a doc. familiar
with finasteride problems, it feels like a waste not to try.

I can’t seem to find any other doctors or specialist familiar with fina problems anyway…
Most doctors don’t even seem to fully believe me ( talk about frustrating )

Has anyone seen Dr. Hertoghe ? If so how was your experience ?

Am 90% sure that I am gonna book an appointment… there’s a long waiting though ,
but I will report if I go !

I’m sure that I read somewhere that Dr Hertoghe takes finasteride himself.

Yeah I’ve red that on a dutch forum as well… It’s a bit iffy

However his specialisation is a anti-aging treatment

He does take fin I also read somewhere that he believes inflammation is the cause of PFS, I’m not sure if that’s still his current theory.

Inflammation has indoubtly something to do in this syndrome, at least in my case. I suffer from a bit of phymosis (which is an inflammation response). I have varicose veins down there and it sometimes hurts, and this also has links with inflammation. During fin use and for some time after it, I suffered prostatitis symptomes, which too is linked to inflammation. Also, brain fog isn’t stable, and It might possibly be explained with an inflammation response.

I am very interested in knowing which is his resolution approach for this. If someone knows, please let us know. Thank you

waste of money and time
been there twice back in 2012 and 2013 and kept emailing for a long time afterwards
knows very little about finasteride
just puts you on all sorts of hormones
literally wants you to replace your cortisol/thyroid and testosterone production
for life
with synthetics or bioidentical

knows nothing of neurotransmitter role in producing those hormones
or how to rebalance them
or maybe he knows but prefers you to stick on hormones

i followed his treatment and got rapidly so worse i couldn’t drive or even think for days
stayed home for several weeks to try to see if this treatment works
didn’t do shit just increased my genital inflammation

i found my way out of this finasteride ordeal by sheer luck trial and patientce so many years afterwards
and it has nothing to do with hormones
NOTHING
just fix your neurotransmitters and your immune system and things will get better

take care

*not to undermine this guy completely after several tests he made me undergo i have to say that at least he found out i had finasteride related prostatitis and told me to fix that first before retrying hormones
i did improve prostate symptoms 60-70% with massages and antibiotics but still i did a lot more separate things to improve my sexuality

he mentions a lot of things, very few although have a strong medical basis
and he runs a few tests which are completely unecessary (and you have to pay for them)

Waste of money. I found him a bit arrogant and uncaring too. He doesn’t really have a clue about this but pretends he does, though he was genuinely perplexed when I asked him why my symptoms would have got so much worse after stopping the drug.

I went to see him once and didn’t return as he was going to try TRT and shortly after seeing him an NHS consultant here put me on it for nothing anyway. There was a German user back in 2009 who got a lot better after using him but his case was a bit unique, his main symptom seemed to be muscle weakness. I now there have been others who went there that haven’t had any success.
