Dr Shippen questions

Hi Guys

I’m in the UK, and I’m considering the possibility of flying over to see Dr Shippen. I know that I might not get an appointment, but I’m thinking about trying.

Does anyone know if Shippen does initial consultations by telephone? I’d basically want to ask him: do you think it is worth me coming to see you?

Does anyone know if Shippen will work with you local doctor? I’ve heard about Crisler doing this, but not sure about Shippen.

Also, has Shippen managed to help any guys like us? I’ve read that he’s treated more than 30 post-Fin sufferers, but I can only find two or three stories on here by guys who have gone to see him, and they seem to have experienced mixed results.

I know Shippen is an eminent doctor and currently our best hope for treatment. But I’m getting the feeling from what I’ve read that even he can’t do too much for guys like us.

Maybe I should add that I’m suffering the usual post-Fin syndrome: crashed T, low libido, ED, fatigue.

Thanks very much for any help.

i live in italy (close to uk)…i think u could consider the idea to come here to paolo peccoz;i ve never been but i ve heard and read things about him knowing about finasteride’s irrev sides…

i repeat,i ve never been to him but i know people has gone to him asking for propecia and he didn’t give the prescription saying it causes permanent sides…i read many studies written by peccoz and he speaks about allopregnolone etc…seems to know a lot about it.

…just consider that!

Scaredmale,
This is an old post so don’t if you’ve gone to see Shippen yet. I have, and would say that it is probably not worth the expense. Not to say that he isn’t an able Doctor, but he really does not have a definitive idea of how to treat our probs. The real benefit of Dr. S. is that he actually believes that propecia caused our condition, and will work w you.
I have chronically low testosterone (175) w/o T. With replacement I got into the 800 range. Shippen sort of saw this as a cure in and of itself, even though, at that range, my sex-drive still did not return (no dreams, spontaneous erections etc.). Again, Shippen is probably one of the best we’ve found to date both in expertise and taking our problem seriously, however, sadly, what he can do is limited, and it would probably be better to get a doctor locally to prescribe T, Clomid, HCG, etc.
This is not intended to douse your fire or disuade you if you have the means and would like to get the opinion of someone who has dealt with these cases before. Simply that I wouldn’t fly all the way out to PA hoping for a miracle. On the other hand anything that fosters hope is good in my book, and my own search for a cure has taken me pretty far afield.
Best of luck!

There’s a problem with him just prescribing TESTOSTERONE. He did not prescribe DHT like Andracitim or Drostotalone(incorrect spelling…anyways google it). This upregulates 3 Adiol G which we lack. Dr. Crisler states a suprphysiological level of Testosterone got his patients feeling good, I would assume that super high levels increase the the amount of 3 Adiol G available. Maybe that explains it? Supraphysicological isnt 800, I would believe its over 2000…

Read JN posts, seems that he has found the cure and non of these doctors are even looking at it…
