It’s hard to say what is really going on. I talked to Crisler today and he also said that some of his PFS patients DO respond to TRT. He didn’t divulge much more info. What do they mean by “respond” though. Do they actually recover or improve a lot? they do not ever mention this.
My one question is, why are none of these guys who respond so well not posting here for others? Not a single one… Seems a bit fishy.
At this point we can only hope and pray that the PFS Foundation makes a discovery worth while. It seems like our last life line. And I think many of us are to the point where we don’t have 3+ years to wait any longer.
When I read the posts about Shippen I was not at all impressed; I got the distinct impression that he was also cashing-in on PFS patients. It was very disappointing since Shippen’s book was the first one I read when I was diagnosed with hypogonadism and the information he provided was very helpful. (Now the info is somewhat dated; it’s too bad he hasn’t taken the time to publish an updated revised edition…)
It has been a while since I’ve read anything so if you can provide a link to anything that might change my mind about the guy I’d appreciate it…
I agree strongly that is seems VERY fishy that none of these people ever confirm they have had success … NONE! either these docs are lying, or these suppossed people who had success are such fucking scum bags that they cannot come back here to give a few friendly tips … but obviously something is very god damn fishy here
There was a thread started here by AWOR asking how people responded to hormone replacement therapy, and pretty much everyone said nothing happened or they actually became worse … except for one guy in the thread named “JEFF O” … he claimed it was wonderful, and his exact quote from this site was used in that first mens health article, but none of the other quotes about how everyone else had shitty results was used … perhaps i am wrong, i do not truly know, but to me, this all seems very fucking fishy …
I wonder where JN has gone? (He had been patient of Shippen or Crisler for long time. I don’ remember ) He was kind of disappointed. The question is not about responding (I responded to Agel) but it stops working after a short while.
If they’ve seen such a ridiculous number of patients and haven’t cured a single one, or will give you a straight answer on that question, I think it’s a waste of money.
I wonder what Bob Habush would say. I suspect Jacobs is softening his position because he doesn’t want to be cited, or dragged into pending litigation cases in any way.
I personally contacted Shippen’s office and they told me there was only a ‘50% chance of getting better’ not recovering and generally tried not to get my hopes up while still being sympathetic. I know one or two others experienced the same. Neither have I ever read anything here that suggests he is misleading men or getting their hopes up under false pretences. Maybe you’re right and he does exploit us but he is certainly not the gung ho salesman the others are. I’m thinking of Crisler, Goldstein - who thinks PFS androgen deprivation may have been due to a kick in the nuts as a child - and probably worst of all Jacobs.
Let’s be straight, he is doing nothing to help our cause by saying a large part of PFS is psycho somatic, that’s dangerous and bad enough especially if he is repeating it to colleagues uninformed about this, that will not advance our cause but potentially put it back. What’s more, consistent and enormous lying about treatment success rates appears to be his speciality. Look what he told this guy here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6751&p=66026&hilit=jacobs#p66026 and see how it tallies up with the men who’ve seen him and reported back to the forum. I’m just getting the impression this guy sees us as a goldmine, and anyway much of his diagnosis seems scarily off the mark (ie telling guys they have Cushings or whatever).
Even Crisler for all his faults admits he doesn’t know what is going on, and he has had some success (see member quint). Although I think his vid should be removed from the ‘what is PFS’ section as he is just an anti-aging doc and replaced with media coverage featuring Irwig - now there’s a doc who has really helped us.
i am going to see a team of endo’s in the next couple of weeks out of ucla … by total fluke, i actually have a picture of myself fully aroused BEFORE ever touching fin … i will then show them the freak show that is now my genitals … the difference is mind blowing, and if they argue with me about it, i will obviously walk right out … it is pretty mother fucking definitive and something that a persons mind is not humanly capable of causing … i would laugh at the notion it was in our heads if it were not so god damn tragic
The third group was 40% of 300 according to Jacob’s blog. That would mean that “most” out of 120 guys have been “successfully treated”. If his definition of “success” is some degree of persistent recovery, as opposed to only increasing blood values of testosterone, then why are we not seeing more positive reports in this forum? And in this 3 year old thread?
His asserting a segment of patients are essentially suffering depression triggered Hypogonadism, is going to make Bob Habush’s job much more difficult in court, IMO. Merck’s lawyers are probably ecstatic.
Yes, I agree - and yet very few people have responded to the poll which Awor posted about taking part in research led by leading scientists, which may lead to a treatment or a cure. It really needs to go out as an email, but could we ask everyone reading this thread to respond? Looks our best hope yet but only about 5 people seem willing to take part - with some of those in Europe despite the fact the research will be in the US!
