Josh

I have an appointment with Dr. Goldstein next week. Has anyone seen Dr. Goldstein for treatment? Any advice on what I should tell him during my appointment?

Look up the user “california” and his posts, he’s seen him.

Mew I dont see him in the member’s list. Do you know if he has posted lately or maybe he has left the site?

Do a search for author “california”.

You will turn up all of his posts.

Yah I found it. Couldn’t the first time when I tried using the member’s list in alphabetical order. Thanks.

He is in the member’s list but all the capitalized names are listed first and then lower case names.

There is a SEARCH function at top of site (blue link).

Click it, then type in his name in the “Author” field.

Ahhh Gotcha. Thanks guys

JoshBlack -

Have you confirmed if you are hypothyroid? Any updates from your appointment with Dr. Goldstein?

Hey I havent been on the forum for a while but I read this today and was wondering if joshblack ever went to see Goldstein? I talked to him a couple of months ago…I still havent recovered - its been over a year since i noticed the problems. Goldstein said that he recommends doing an arteriogram to try and see if there is blockage and if so then doing revasc. surgery. I’ve been using viagra for a year now and its working fine so I think the blockage might be the problem. I’ll be waiting to hear from you guys. Thanks

Stumbled across some videos featuring Dr. Goldstein talking about his take on sexual health and treatment. I’ll directly link the ones I found of most relevance to us, and you can navigate to his other less-relevant videos if you want.

Although the interviewer is interested in female sexual function, the fundamentals he addresses still apply.

Testosterone

  • note that even despite talking of females, he alludes to T having an effect on genital tissue and memory, among other roles.

Dopamine

His website is just as interesting. Here are a few select pages that corroborate what we’re going through.

Wish I knew most of these things before taking Propecia… anyway, nice to see a Dr. who has a considerably solid handle on these issues. I wonder what his opinion is on Propecia…

I have a phone consult with him on Sept 15.

This is the same guy that performed Xhorndog’s procedure, good choice. Are you going to have him look for potential blockage in the area around the prostate?

I had an ultra sound done on my testicles and everything came back fine, but I have been thinking about this blockage lately. I don’t really recall seeing many other men address this issue specifically.

Im kinda praying that this is something other than PFS. (Even though it looks like PFS) I’ve had no trauma down there but who knows. I’ve had a urologist in NY look at me already and said all looks “normal”. At least he could look at the workings of everything down there and rule out a blockage or other physical problem. At this point I think its about ruling things out.

I havnt had an ultrasound for blockage but Ive been thinking about doing that. My insurance wont cover it so Im out of pocket for that. Would be in the thousands prolly. Do you know how much yours was , boston?

Seems like a great guy, gets what we’re experiencing entirely. I spoke to him on the phone but haven’t made an appt yet. Requires my traveling which is very difficult given family obligations.

I’ve been seeing Dr Goldstein for over a year now. About 5 or 6 appointments so far.
And after each visit, I was optimistic for a recovery.

He’s very experienced in Sex Medicine, a very nice guy, and says he gets about 3 patients a week with PFS.

I have a good opinion of him, his staff, expertise and knowledge about PFS.
Diagnosed me with Hypergonadotropic Hypogonadism, and a partial block on the left side for blood flow, which is clearly seen on a color ultrasound screen in real time.

My first visit, he convince me to have T pellets inserted in the buttocks because they last for 6 months. DON"T DO THE PELLETS! They do NOT last that long and don’t keep T at a consistent level. And they hurt like hell.

My T and DHT levels over 4 sets of labs were down, up, down, up. But the ratio of T to DHT is still way off. Dr Goldstein has increased the amount of Testosterone Injections THREE times. Started at weekly at .25mg, then .35mg, 70mg and now 120mg(60mg twice a week). He said some patients have to have their T boosted up to 1300 to 1400 in order to bring the DHT up.

My opinion is based on my own experience, which MAY be completely different than yours, but I’ve lost confidence that he knows how to help me recover from Propecia. I asked him at the last visit “Do you have ANY patients that have recovered completely from PFS?” and he paused, thought for a moment and said he hasn’t really polled his patients and said no, not that he knows of.

This could mean 1 of 2 things; either he has no known treatments that work, or his statement that Propecia causes permanent damage to 5ar receptors and modifies our DNA is true. Or both.

All I can say is that he can treat the imbalance of hormones, get your sex function and desire back, and help you feel somewhat better, but remember, he’s only a sex specialist and has no expertise in the Mental, Physical sides.
Meds that have worked for me:
Wellbutrin
T injections
Clomid
Anastrazole
Adderall
Lorazepam

But the single largest improvement I’ve noticed is when I got off the couch and started lifting weights, combined with green smoothies, supplements, protein powder, creatine and Lions Mane.

Has anyone else had an appointment with dr. Goldstein that he could elaborate with?

Is there a point for one visit only?
As I live in another side of the world, I cannot have more than one visit.
