There could be several reasons for SA to say that, the first that comes to mind is that he essentially said that they are going to vigerously defend their drug that causes people horrible side effects. It won’t look to good for them from a PR stand point when the scientific facts point to this drug causing the terrible side effects we all have, yet they’re point of view is to “vigerously” defend it.
Merck’s new slogan: “Our fuck ups, are not our problem.”
WRONG every effort to raise awareness is not useful. The truther girls will put this problem in the same catagory as 9/11 consipracies etc, it is actually worse than doing nothing. It will bring ridicule and push away any serious hopes. You are a lonely fool who is treating this thing like one big joke.
I am not familiar with the truther girls however I sympathize with Oscar’s hesitancy in associating PFS sufferers with a conspiracy website. Just reading the initial part of their website it states:
Then it states:
We don’t need the conspiracy aspect, however there are factual claims that dispute Big Pharma’s product safety claims and the truther girls seem to have identified some factual areas of dispute. This is very similar to those with PFS finding out after taking propecia that the drug can have much stronger and longer acting conseqences on the body than is advertised.
It’s too bad they couldn’t stick with simply factual information and choose a name that is not associated with the 9/11 truthers.
I do find it interesting that a guy like Irwig would take an interview on a site like this but, he DID accept. He has his own name to think about too. So, if this was bad, why would he ever accept in the first place? That is a very fair question I think.
Dr Irwig must not know what the show is about. Could have just been told its an interview with ‘americanfreedomradio’. Probably SA hasnt told him what type of show it is. We’ll see if he drops out.
Why any of you brain-dead fools would want to associate themselves with pathetic shows like these is beyond my understanding;
Mexico 2012 Quake, the 188-Day Cycle, and HAARP New Weaponized Bird Flu: for Rockefeller Agenda? Satan, Revelation, OWS and the NWO Satan Behind Occupy Wall Street? CIA INSISTS THEY DID 9/11! London Riots a Black Op OSAMA BIN LADEN IS DEAD! AGAIN! Virgin Mary Appears in Africa : Is it Project Bluebeam? FBI Memos Say Aliens are Real! Japan Quake: HAARP or Comet Elenin? Is New Madrid Fault Next? Scientist Finds Alien Life! Disclosure Next? New Zealand Quake : HAARP Again? Chemtrails Totally Exposed (“I talk about chemtrails quite a bit on the radio”) Dead Birds, Fish Everywhere: Evidence for HAARP or Other Cause Is The Pope Catholic?
etc
If the subject is presented in a professional way and is backed by data (as it is probably going to be, given the fact Dr. Irwig will participate), i don’t see why this would hurt us. Even if 100% of the audience was formed only by conspiracy lovers (which i don’t believe is the case), these people have spouses, relatives, friends and they will be aware of our condition and can comment and influence others about the subject. This can also help someone who has taken Propecia and has not linked the mental side effects to the drug. I say go for it, any media outlet is useful, as long as the issue is presented truthfully. We have the moral obligation of spreading what happened to us, so it does not happen to others.
I think many people take things with a grain of salt. I am sure some of the material of the truther girl is not very credible, but other stuff is alright and useful to some people. I believe most people are able to select what seem credible to them, and what is not. If Dr. Irwig does participate, it will be great material, no matter who is the reporter.
Oscar - please be more diplomatic when expressing your adversarial opinions. It doesn’t help anybody (including yourself) to insult other people on this forum, especially when their success is so directly tied to your own.
The Truther Girls are not a credible source, per se, but may drive viewers to do independent research. If you feel the other sources are sufficiently strong and persuasive, the Truther Girls show could be a useful catalyst, otherwise it may set us back in terms of credibility in the short-run.
Personally - I would strongly prefer our movement to stay clear of the Truther Girls for the time being - but Kevin, if you do decide to go on the show please be sure to choose your words and message very carefully as you will be representing us publicly and there is the potential to do harm.
As much as there maybe doubt among the average lay person looking in at us and our “condition”. You would think by now, that the mere existance of the condition is irrefutable fact. The ALREADY published studies such as this (drproctor.com/propecia/propecia.pdf) should seem to be enough evidence of that.
Given that anyone of any sort of knowledge in this field is well aware of the potential side effects of finasteride, there isn’t much harm that can be done from the professional recognition stand point of “Kevin” going on this show.
The only supposed harm that could occur, might be from the casual observer misinterpreting the information provided as being ficticous or overblown. But officially the Post-Finasteride Syndrome has been all but medically recognized given the current state of affairs and evidence presented at this time.
It really is only a matter of time before finasteride is scientifically recognized for causing harmful effects. I believe not only in a subset of men but I am certain even in men who do not sense any side effects, that eventually or rather shortly in relative terms this drug will be found to be dangerous to all men specifically in the long-term.
Given the two opposing view points, while I do not necessarily think that going on these sort of programs is benefical to us, I do also think, that although unlikely, it is possible it might diminish us slightly to the general public.
We have Oscar, who has basically said the only way he will contribute is anon through the internet. Which while I respect him as a fellow sufferer I disagree with that standpoint completely. Nothing is going to be accomplished by sitting behind our computers arguing over treatments and causes. The fact that SA put himself out there physically is a huge step for us and something everyone who is truly suffering from this condition should be ready to do given the feasable opportunity. The past 6 months or so have seen a HUGE uptick in the amount of press and scientific notice PFS has garnered, it is important to keep this on upward trend.
Obviously the modern world at large does not have a long attention span and anything that keeps our plight out there, in the open, and (importantly) being talked about. Is a good thing. Many people sat on these boards in years past with no where else to look (like Randy), nobody knew about us, nobody wanted to try to help us. I don’t really understand how someone can be “like” Oscar and expect to be cured one day. But I don’t know anything about Oscar and I’m not going to make presumptions about him.
What I do know is that the more people hear about PFS the better it is in general for us. The more “finasteride’s side effects” and not “finasterides benefits” shows up in google searches; the better for us. The more doctors and scientists who go to conferances and one of their colleagues comes up to them and says: “Hey have you heard about these men with the long-term side effects from Finasteride? Really strange isn’t it?” The better for us.
Putting pressure on Merck will not directly lead to a cure. What it will do is it will annoy them and in America where the dollar is king overall, what annoys a multi-billion dollar company is something that will generate interest from parties who CAN directly help us.
Well said visionquest. In a world where information spreads quickly, the more information out there, the better. We are all part of the same network. I’m not sure broken pecker knows this, but he was partly responible for getting CBS Philly to do the story on Randy.
My actions in New Jersey led to MUCH MORE than the John Peige articles and the mycentraljersey aritlce. Hopefully, doing this radio show will result in further action.
