Dr. Drew

On Episode # 7 of the “Dr. Drew Podcast”, Dr. Drew had a guest, Dr. Andrew T. Goldstein. He deals with female problems- especially a phenomenon that seems somewhat analogous to a female version of PFS.

Apparently the new generation of birth control pills suppress testosterone, and the companies added chemicals that do that so that they can market the drugs as anti-acne drugs as well. Suppressing T can, for some women, cause them problems with extreme dryness down there, no lubrication, and pain. For some, the pain even continues after they stop taking these birth control pills. The doctor was talking about how some women’s T receptors are not as efficient, and so once T drops below a certain amount, it screws them up. I wasn’t exactly clear on why it could be a permanent screw up, or if he can treat women with those issues (permanent pain afterwards) but if he has a way to deal with that problem, I wonder if it would have any implications for men who suffer from PFS?

(As a side note, I do not believe that I am suffering from PFS, but I did take fin for 4 or 5 years, and stopped when I read about the new FDA warning. Nevertheless, I am interested in the topic and I would want to help people if I could.)

One other thing is that, someone with PFS should call in to Dr. Drew’s “The Dr. Drew Podcast” and have a conversation with him about it, explain about TRT not seeming to work according to people on the forums, although Dr. Crisler seems to have been able to help some guys with very high doses. OTOH, I’m not sure if there is anyone on the board who has said that he had been cured by one of the few doctors who are actively dealing with PFS.

Dr. Drew knows a lot of great doctors, and he does genuinely care about patients in a deep way, and it would be interesting to hear his theories and what avenues he would suggest. On his HLN show he did mention PFS once, so I think he would be interested to take a call from a PFS sufferer. Since it’s a long-form show with basically no commercials, he could spend 20 minutes on it and really have a productive conversation about it.

Someone with PFS should call into his show.

so you dont have any PFS symptoms? Interesting. Can I ask you a few questions. How is your hair now? Also, would you describe yourself as a person with life long anxiety or nervousness?

Very good idea to call in btw

you don’t have PFS.
