Do you breathe through your mouth or nose? (congested, sinuses)

This is something I’ve been wondering about since I’ve read another thread about someone talking about how their felt they had screwed up sinuses. Also, some have reported some flu like symptoms in the past. What I’m wondering is if people have an easier time breathing through their mouth as opposed to their nose because maybe they have backed up sinuses and unable to breathe through their nose really efficiently?

No changes here. Not that I would expect it to. 5AR2 isn’t located in these tissues.

I’ve always been a mouth breather, still am.

I have had sinus problems forever. (Take Allegra D or Claritin D)

Dont think it’s related to this issue, in my case anyway.

Thanks for your input, Mew. This could be another one of those things where some people have it, others don’t.

That is interesting, thanks for letting me know.

If anyone else could comment if they are a mouth breather and if it’s sinus related… would be interested to hear.

interesting what appeared in my inbox today… especially since IHP’s recovery was targeted at some kind of possible fungal infection…

This interests me. I suffered Rhinitus with a post nasal drip for months while using Finasteride.
I did not associate this problem with the drug and had numerous visits to an ENT specialist. I was given courses of anitbiotics to take over a period of months which did not resolve it. It continued until I stopped using fin and the post nasal drip dried up and there was a marked improvement. My sinuses got a lot better but are still not as they should be today.
The fungal thing sounds logical to me, It is also worth noting, that a post nasal drip and sinus infections can be caused by hormone imbalances in the body and has been linked to high levels of estrogen.

I’ve also always been a mouth breather. My nose just cant give my enough oxygen. This has always been the case though. Maybe its in my head but maybe it’s gotten a little worse post fin.

My sinuses tell me a hell of a lot about how I am going to feel.

Stuffy nose with lots of brown, coloured bogies = feel good with decent libido and erections

Clear nose with completely clear snot = feel bad, 0 libido, dead dick

Stuffy eyes in the morning = very good

Nothing in my eyes in the morning = feel bad

If I have smelly armpits it’s a good sign too

I assume it’s all to do with hormones

I have congested nose and blocked sinuses for 5 months now after taking 11 pills in november 2012
and I cant smell anything for that time as well . This is horrible!!!
I never had any sinus problems prior to takin propecia …

This is really interesting. I also had thought that this could be sinustis related. Pre fin I had this at least once a year. Post fin I had hard pressure in my forehead. This got a lot better when taking Niacin. After the Niacin flush my nose starts to run a little bit. My whole condition improved a lot further when I started taking arome therapy steam baths as suggested in your posted link. this forehead pressure faded almost completely and I have a much better sleep.

I just founded out that I have developed nasal polyps. It is.posssible they where asymptomatic. Symptoms developed after after fin

This is funny: when I was on Fin I developed severe concentration and similar problems. However I had no idea it was fin causing it. I wanted to do a sleep study, I wanted to go to the neurologist; however I ended up going to the otorhinolaryngologist because I was concerned it could be my poor nose breath. The fact that I started smoking electronic cigarettes (because of the same concentration problems) probably didn’t help because the vapor is hygroscopic. Obviously I was told to go to the psychologist. How dumb can these guys be? when they don’t know, then it’s your mind, you’re a fool, whatever. I would ask them to please return to the university, and get their degree twice.
Obviously however it wasn’t my poor breath the source of my concentration problems. Keeping it clear didn’t help at that time.
As a note, one year after fin, I am under flu for the first time and I developed an otitis pretty rapidly. I thought I couldn’t get ill, and it in fact appeared very difficult (pronlonged kisses with an ill girl has been necessary). Now the only thing I hope is that this otitis doesn’t get chronic.
