Do I have PFS please provide input? Thank you!

I took finasteride for 2 months. About 3 months ago I stopped it after I got ed. I also saw results almost a month in.

About a month ago I had a low of being able to get an erection. I lost morning wood.

Now I have morning wood back, but still no spontaneous erections.

Since day one of the drug I had acne. My acne was treated with standard antibiotics. Once I found out this was tied to finasteride I stopped taking antibiotics. Now my acne has slowly come back. I had testosterone and essential body functions tested. It came back normal.

Other problem I have is increased sensitivity to weight gain. I’ve never gained weight from eating. And increased fat around my breasts and chest (still very modest & slim). Doc evaluated for tissue change in penis, gynecomastia, shrinkage in balls, and he said everything is normal.

I haven’t experienced any psychological effects, sleep, or depression. Also never experienced a crash.

Is three months off the drug enough time to say that I have pfs? I’ve read several people on this forum say that most go back to normal in weeks to several months. Is 6 months a good gauge? At what point do you think it’s fair to say your body is beyond putting itself back to normal?

I know that we know very little about the cause. I’m just hoping to hear someone who has a lot of experience with other stories. My doc believes me, but he doesn’t know how to help other than saying wait 6 months.

Any input? Thank you!!

One guy said it took him 6 years.

I’d say never say never.

Yep, this. Another guy I think was ten years, and iirc it all happened within the last year of it.

I apologize, I understand that some experience recoveries years later. My questions was more so directed at the initial phase. When new people come here they are usually told not to worry and give it some weeks and months. They usually say something along the lines of pfs is very rare and most who ever have symptoms will go back to normal.

At what point do you think it’s fair to say you’re no longer in that initial group? When do you fall in the later group of this now could be a life sentence or maybe several years?

I get that this isn’t black and white. I’m just trying to say that I’ll give my body x amount of time on its own. Then maybe start to attempt treatment.

If you were to fall in the initial group at what general point do you recover?

Thank you!

6 months maybe, I think some have taken up to a year to return to normal.
