Do I have an infection?

Hello all,

I’m hoping you guys, especially people in the medical field can shed some light? Please read my story:
About 4.5 months ago I took a few doses of Finasteride as I was extremely frustrated by my rapid hairloss and itchy scalp. My semen got much thinner and did not have half the thich white it previously had. Soon after I started getting pain in my upper thigh and groin area (but no real pain in my testicles) or prostate. This was especially bad on my right side for some reason. After a couple days it got worse as the pain spread down my leg all the way to the beginning of my ankle. Mentally I felt “out there” with depressive symptoms at the same time. It was weird. Every few seconds or so the pain would shoot from my hip area all the way down my right leg. I couldn’t take it anymore so I went to a sports medicine Dr. He wrote a prescription for physical therapy. What a joke, I never went. So here I am today with the pain not as bad but still there. I no longer get the pain in the bottom half of my right leg. My semem is still watery but thickened up slightly. Still, no real pain in prostate area. But seriously guys, I wake up every night with pain in my hip area and thigh area right above the knee. This stinks as I am used to sleeping on my side! Anybody know what is going on?
Tim

Are you still on the drug? If so get off.

If not, the drug has been linked with muscle myopathy, muscle aches etc.

However if you are off things should improve over time. You might want to get checked for prostatitis just in case.

Thank you for the response.
To answer your question, no, I am no longer on Finasteride yet continue to have leg and hip issues. It’s very odd. I continue to have a tender feeling in the area about an inch up from my knee cap. I went to a Sports medicine guy who wants me to go to physical therapy. He has no explanation except that my hip flexors were week. I never went to the therapy. Why pay $30 copay each visit for the therapist to tell me 2 months from know that I need to see another Dr.? Ya know? I have been doing my own leg exercises to see if strengthening the area helps? Is the area strong now? Yes. Is the tenderness, discomfort still there? Yep. I’m confused and concerned

I had the same experience and went to a PT. my entire body was weak and I still have problems holding my joints in place especially the hips. The best success I had was going to a PT to learn what exercises to do and then doing them with light resistence until I got the form correct EVERY DAY. They told me every other day but I don’t think my body maintains enough T etc. unless I am working out every day or every 2/3 days hard.

Your muscles become weak and they start to sag over the spine.

Make sure you learn how to properly do Kegels and flex the muscle while you are doing the other exercises and anytime you’re working out. This is the only way I got feeling back in the prostate and am able to somewhat control erections…
