Hey there, this forum is very helpful; I’m really glad I found it. Well, I’ve read many of the posts concerning brain fog and feel like I’m exhibiting some of the symptoms. I’m a sharp guy, recently graduated from from UC Santa Barbara and am venturing into the professional world (or attempting to), and recently I’ve been feeling impaired psychologically. I stopped taking my propecia today after about 1.5 years. These symptoms have recently manifested themselves.
At times I’ve been experiencing these symptoms;
I’m having difficulty remembering how to spell certain words,
math seems to be more difficult
I have an inability to articulate what I’m thinking,
Slight depression and lack of purpose
Text on computer screen is difficult to follow at times
A flat affect, dull personality
I feel as though I’m being severely impaired by these conditions and would like some info on how to combat them, and likewise would like to know if anyone else has experienced similar symptoms. Thank you for your help.
This entire forum is dedicated to trying to figure out how to reverse the symptoms Finasteride left us with… yes, others have experienced the same things you have.
It seems in terms of brain fog, time is your ally in that the longer you are off the drug, the better things get… but hormone testing is also imperative as you may be having issues hormonally that are causing these problems to be ongoing (ie, low testosterone).
Also, for general brain health, Omega 3s are definitely a good supplement to take.
thanks for the response.
I’d also like to point out that it is still early days for you yet, since you just quit the drug… and if you are destined to “return to normal” (as most men should), then within 2 weeks to a month you should be feeling MUCH better… but for some guys it can take awhile more.
But if you find things continue to get worse, you may want to get bloodtests as outlined on this site (top of Hormones section)… although I’d suggest getting them ASAP so you can see what Finasteride has been doing to your endocrine system, since you just came off.
Thanks again sir.
