Difficulties of breathing + Burning pain in the chest

Hello,

I have those two problems and even if I do not see the link, I think it is related to finasteride.

When I was on the drug the first time (5 months very irregularly), I only had this but it only lasted 2 days. I thought it was smoking, so i stopped smoking for 10 days and it disappeared quickly.

The second time i got back on the drug, it came back immediately. I said to myself once again it is due to smoking. I quit smoking to see if it would go away like last time.
But it did not disappear at all. And it has been 3 months now. It is really really annoying. It’s my first concern now, more that sexual issues. Because I could forget the latter during the day.
But forgetting the pain you have in the chest, and the feeling of being oppressed is not possible.

I’m off the drug for 1 month now. I cannot explain this. The only thing which could be related to it could be a thyroid problem ? What do you think about it?

I’m off my country for 20 days left, and I will get the blood results when I come back. But I’m fearing to see that nothing is wrong with my thyroid.
Because if thyroid is ok, what the hell could it be ? I went to a lung specialist and to an ORL and they did not find anything wrong.

Last thing !

One a few websites dealing with finasteride side effects I found this stuff :

"Contact your doctor, pharmacist or seek emergency medical assistance if you have difficulty breathing, closing of throat, swelling of lips/tongue/face or hives "

http://www.pilljunction.com/propecia.asp?&

Could it be an allergic reaction ?
If it would be, why do I feel the allergic reaction 1 month after having quit ?

I would be very glad to have some input about this !

Already replied previously to your initial Member’s Story post, what I suggest still stands. Did you ever notice any changes in your chest development while on the drug?

Finasteride can lead to increased Estrogen levels in men, which can lead to gynecomastia (male breasts), the manifestations of which include a sore, painful chest and puffy/swollen/itchy nipples.

You need bloodtests as outlined on this site. Most likely you will find your Estradiol elevated (possibly your Estrone, Estriol and Total Estrogens as well).

As for the difficulty breathing – could be an allergic reaction, or related to hormone imbalance. Unknown until you get bloodwork done.

Yes I will have the bloodtests done in the last week of december.

As for the rest, I must admit that sometimes, I feel like my nipples are a little itchy. But I thought before it was some kind of intercostal pain, because the doctor said that difficultiers of breathing and pain in the chest was bronchite. But a 3-month lasting bronchite seems a little strange to me.

Now, I do not know. When I see me in front of the mirror, I am not able to say if the nipples are a little bit enlarged or even swollen.
Maybe a little, but I’m not sure at all. I did not pay attention to it before.

Can a slight form of gynecomastia results in no real breast enlargement, but itchy pain and other symptoms you mentioned ?

I promise Mew, I understood the bloodtests are absolutely necessary to make the investigations go further, but I cannot do anything where I am. Just have to wait for my return, and then, at last, FULL BLOODTESTS ! :smiling_imp:
