I went into the emergency room a few days ago. They did blood and urine work to diagnose it. Urine came back clean meaning no urinary tract infection and blood work showed infection. Being that I have a weak stream and burning urination it was pretty clear that it was bacterial prostatitis. A urologist could get a semen sample from the prostate and culture it to confirm and get the appropriate anti biotic for it if necessary. Being that it was the weekend and I didn’t have time for all that, they gave me ciproflaxin, which is a common antibiotic prescribed for this condition. It seems to be working as I am feeling better already.
It sucks to have to worry about prostate problems now and probably for the rest of my life. Another scar from finasteride. I’m almost four months off the drug and seem to be doomed. I had a massive crash though. I looked and felt like a chemo therapy patient for the first 2 1/2 months. Everything is still shrunk. I’m semi functional sexually. Have seen some subtle improvement, but I don’t think I can ever get back to 100 percent.
If I were you I wouldn’t worry about it necessarily. However, I would really watch what you eat until your system balances out. Don’t slip up and think your recovering and eat a bunch of junk food. Eat foods that are good for digestion like yogurt, high fiber foods. Watch out for meat. I ate a lot of meat before this happened. Chew your food good also.
