dhea and cortisol

Anybody know any ways to naturally combat increased cortisol besides exercise and ‘thinking positively’?? I am having trouble with this and I think it is stunting my DHEA. I am concerned that I might end up with adrenal fatigue and my body won’t be able to heal properly. I’m considering a cortisol blocker or maybe a DHEA promoter. Any advice here either? I think that some of us may have lowered DHEA because of the excess cortisol over an extended period of time.

For Cortisol, Vitamin C is your friend.

As for DHEA, you can purchase DHEA supplements over the counter in some states I believe? I know one of GNC’s megamen vitamins has it… check their site.

the best way to lower cortisol is to relax - take up yoga or meditation or sleep more…
I believe my cortisol was elevated as I had 2 concurrent stresses while i was on fin. Now it is very low and DHEA is above range.
Never heard of anyone with our symptoms making any progress with DHEA supplements.
Panic, go away and relax - sound like you are making some progress, but your concerns and worry will be your biggest enemy at the moment.

Anybody actualy tried DHEA suplements?
I do understand they are converted to estrogen but still DHEA is very important in our body .
I tried it for one day only 10mg DHEA before bed at night and the results were disapointing:it gave me muscular weaknesses, headache and an anxious state :frowning:.Maybe I was supose to take it longer
It seems that DHEA has a rithm:is high in the morning and low in the night.I believe I had high DHEA levels in the night so that is why the pill of DHEA got things precipitated.

Mayo citation:

There is sufficient evidence supporting the use of DHEA in the treatment of adrenal insufficiency, depression, induction of labor, and systemic lupus erythematosus.

There is a lack of available studies on the long-term effects of DHEA. However, DHEA may cause higher than normal levels of androgens and estrogens in the body, and theoretically may increase the risk of prostate, breast, ovarian, and other hormone-sensitive cancers

GNC mega men has worked for me…
Thanks for advice
