dependent?

Is it possible for guys like myself that took Finasteride 1mg ed for a number of years (8) without missing too many doses have become dependent on it to an extent?

I would never take it again obviously but I wonder about this. I experienced a relatively long (5 months) recovery back to normal 100%functioning up until a point where i ha da binge drinking episode one weekend and things have not been the same since.

I have put a lid on the drinking for the time being and am taking 12.5 mg Clomid daily and feel a little better but the sexual functioning/libido is FAR from what it should be.

So my question is can one become dependent upon Finasteride? Is there any validity to this statement?

I took Propecia for one, maybe two weeks maximum in my lifetime, and my symptoms are just the same. This is probably less likely.

Absolutely none. It is a pharmaceutical chemical and causes your body to become unbalanced, and unnatural. Your body did not “depend” on Finasteride before you ingested it, and did just fine without it. Unfortunatley Fin threw a monkey wrench into our endocrine systems and screwed a lot of things up, but that has nothing to do with developing a dependency. There are men here who only took it for days, and still have longterm issues… this is not a medication with addictive properties.

Butwhat do you say to a doctor or endocrinologist when your endocrine levels are normal??? They say it is not a physiological issue, it may be psychological and you’re back to square one.

This is basically what my GP said to me today. Finasteride is out of our system for over a year, it has a half life of hours.

This is why we need a clinical study done on us comparing us to guys who never took the drug, to try and find out what the problem is. Nobody has a definitive answer yet.

DRINKING IS A PROBLEM. I experimented numerous times with drinking always to detrimental effect. I suspect that the liver either becomes damaged or over-produces an enzyme that exacerbates our problems. In specific, every time I drink I deal with extreme shrinkage leading me to think that the enzyme that Viagra blocks is flooded into my system. Just a theory but something I’m going to explore, overproduction of enzymes. Essentially our bodies worked very hard producing enzymes to metabolize fin.

But then again I seem to put on water weight all over when I drink too, so it could be the estrogen…

If you’re drinking beer, hops are extremely estrogenic. This would cause the shrinkage and water retention, especially in a post fin body which favors a higher estrogen level then the norm
