Dailymail sexual dysfunction accutane awareness article

One of my friends sent me this article, it goes into depth about the devastating effects of accutane from sexual dysfunction, to suicide and even chronic fatigue, worth a read in my opinion and it’s definitely another case of PFS.

“Regulators believe side effects are rare”. Ffs Im so tired of hearing that bullshit story. I really hope nobody here still believes the 2% evaluation of men experiencing side effects that Merck constantly claims based on a extremely outdated, yet biased study.

“Almost four years later, Ed is virtually housebound in his parents’ home, a prisoner of the crippling anxiety and depression that cut short his hopes of studying for a degree — and he still has sexual dysfunction.”

Actually sounds like me, but I’ve been housebound due to anhedonia, fatigue and vision, sexual dysfunction is getting off lightly I think and “lightly” isn’t even good, it shows how bad this condition actually is, that the best outcome you can have is that, having everything else that physically limit your life is even worse in my eyes, let alone sexual dysfunction can drive a person to suicide, a cocktail of all this stuff in all honesty, shows how extremely resilient we all are to be putting up with it all.

I’m a little trigged in all honesty after reading this, just made me quite angry about everything that’s happening to everyone, I wonder if Ed is on this forum? Fair play to him on sharing his story, I really respect that, if anyone has twitter or Facebook I’d highly recommend sharing this article and try get it trending.

This article conjured up the same emotions in me as well. Makes me livid. The regulators are just as bad as the companies manufacturing this medication, who are just as bad as the ignorant doctors perscribing it. The entire American pharmaceutical system needs to be reformed and more oversight regulation should be imposed. Such a stretch, sadly

Meanwhile…

Thanks for posting this. I think its very important to have these articles and get public reconnaissance, but its a shame that the first comments are always dudes talking about the wonders of roaccutan and telling “its not that bad”. I’ve always wondered lf Roche has people on paycheck to comment whenever an article comes up.

This article is deeply beneficial to us. It covers the hidden epidemic of young men getting erectile dysfunction from prescribed meds. Not only does it hit Accutane - it hits Propecia and SSRIs. This is huge.

Yet another story of heartbreak and pain for yet another victim and the family.
It’s nice to know that Ed had the bravery to tell his parents before he did anything drastic as facing all of these issues alone is such a weight to carry i can honestly understand why some guys choose to throw the towel in.
The very nature of the problems that we face are so demoralizing that it makes it virtually impossible to ask for help until the time comes that we are so overwhelmed by everything that it has become a life or death situation.
It’s like drowning in sinking sand with no one to pull you out you try everything possible to get yourself back on track but before you realize you are up to your neck in it by now so you have no choice but to reach out to finally confront your fears go talk to your doctor out of shear desperation but instead of throwing you a lifeline he does nothing but demoralize you even further by dismissing your symptoms and tells you that you are depressed , to my mind the doctor may aswell be stood on your head waving goodbye.
I wonder how many people commit suicide after asking for medical help and receiving the cold shoulder.
At the bottom of this article they have linked 14 drugs to sexual dysfunction so why is it when we ask for help this LINK gets broken right at the doorstep of the only place that can possibly help.
What the FUCK are we supposed to do …
This whole situation is such bullshit.
Ive tried all the so called cures ive spent a million hours researching bullshit i shouldnt have to ive seen it ALL from the medical studies which just lead to total confusion as you can put two side by side they will just contradict each other , ive spent a fortune paying for supplements , hormone drugs and Viagra over the years to be honest I’m fucking tired of it all.
Doctors may piss in our faces but my mind set is fuck it my next investment is a raincoat and umbrella to make my way back to the doctors to ride the storm out.
I’m sick of hearing this reading that it all seems to lead to a dead end.
I’m sick of trying this trying that it usually does nothing.
Above all im totally sick to death of reading articles like this one that state the situations people have been dropped into due to use of these drugs yet we get next to zero medical or scientific answers as to why it happened all we get is speculations and possibilities followed up by a large dose of denials.
Wouldn’t it be great to read these articles and hear just one happy ending for once.
Wouldn’t it great to hear Eds doctor got him sorted out and now Ed has his life back on track.
Surely it just can’t be that difficult to figure out
Scientist can grow body parts through knowledge of DNA but they have no answers to our situation I find this hard to believe.
Articles like this one are great to create awareness but exactly how many does it take to justify creating a cure.

I hear what you are saying. It is frustrating.

In the end we need more articles like this - to agitate the establishment into action. Most importantly we need to see the national funding pots unlocked.

These articles help towards our goal.
