Could prostatitis be the cause of all of our problems?

I only took the drug for three weeks and am now finally getting back on track with my sleep and better with gabapentin, but i have actually very recently got prostatitis from this. I have a pain in my left testicle and chronic low grade pain in my pelvis. I’m starting to think that the actual shock to the prostate may be the cause to many of the problems we all have. im not a 100% sure but just a thought.

Have you been diagnosed by a physician with this? Have you had bacterial cultures taken?

Be wary about self-diagnosing…

I am having my next uro visit tomorrow and will demant further tests. My load still looks weird, my genitals feel cold etc. I don’t think hormones alone can do that, so maybe there is something physical going on.

Also, bodybuilders get strong hormone fluctuations with gyno and low libido all the time, but I have never heard anyone complain about physical changes to their genitals and Fin affects the prostate, so maybe it’s worth a shot.

Dude, no offense, but are you crazy!?? Haven’t you read all the people’s testimonials all over this site who have gotten prostatitis from Propecia, and also all the medical literature, and all the stuff ALL OVER the internet as well which talks about how most doctors cannot and do not detect it. The average doctor does not detect prostatitis unless it is a quick onset extreme case of “acute prostatitis”. Most Uro’s will even tell you this.

Dude, where are you trying to go with all this??
You make no sense sometimes man.
I’m not trying to preach the prostatitis card or anything, its just if you’ve had it like some of us, you cannot deny or ignore the symptoms. It is fact man. I don’t need a doctor to tell me I have urinary symptoms, pain in the perinium, pain or stinging when I eat lots of sugars or drink lots of coffee, and some prostate pain, and therfore I have prostatitis.
It is obvious, I have some prostatitis, and I have not seen any of the other doctors that specialize in prostatitis (besides Dr. Polacheck) and who CAN diagnosis it, through 3-day cultures of EPS fluid. It is a mysterious disease that people do not always know what it is that exactly causes it. It is a “cesspool of clinical ignorance!” and “the silent disease!” Thanks for telling all of us we dont have it. It is a serious disease, which people can treat if they are aware of it.

I agree with you Boston. I had a non-bacterial inflamation of my prostate. I was the cause of finasteride, but nobody including my urologist told me it was due to this poisonous drug. I realized it was because of Propecia, when I noticed it was pretty common among many users.

There is no scientific data that can prove that… what a surprise…

Man calm down, all I’m saying is sometimes people might over-react to things and think it could be one thing, but may be something else entirely. Lord knows we’ve all done this at periods in our life, myself included. But obviously if symptoms persist, it could very well be!

Look, I’m not saying nobody has gotten prostatitis from Finasteride – the thought has crossed my mind as well, as I occasionally experience pain on the right side of what I believe to be my prostate every once in awhile for no apparent reason.

All I’m saying is, just be wary about taking a bunch of potential medications which may have side effects themselves, to treat something you “think” you might have… I understand prostatitis is a mysterious complication and can be very hard to diagnose, so in this case self-treating may in fact be warranted, within reason and safety limits.

i understand where you’re coming from mew, but you have to understand i have been to so many doctors to finally get to the point where i am that I dont have the strength to go through urologist to urologist right now. I will eventually get around to it im sure, but getting an exact diagnosis from a doctor isn’t always the easiest thing to come by. Basically, I’m trying to establish why my symptoms seemed to have gotten gradually worse even the ED symptoms when I was only the drug for 3 weeks. From a sexual standpoint i was fine really up until a couple months ago and all. It just seems that my prostate was physically effected from all of it the most as i was urinating like crazy on the stuff. anyway, i think it should be looked into in terms of the factors to all of this. I have found that when i can get a decent load off Im actually able to sleep better. as of now im not jumping the gun on anything but perhaps underlying prostatis could be a cause to a lot of this. I was looking at the hormone profile section and it seems guys with huge rebounding levels of DHT on here have this problem.

Don’t be wary about taking a standard 3 week course of Cipro if you think you have it. DO IT IMMEDIATELY once you start feeling symptoms, because it very well could save your ass!

Panic got lucky. He took Cipro right away, and never got it bad. He has not had prostatitis symptoms since his initial frequency and pain problems during his first month. He was a lucky one who took Cipro right away as a precautionary measure, and now he is fine.
I wish I had!

boston the only thing im concerned about is i have been reading on various websites that taking cipro can make it more resistant if it all isnt killed off. it is likely it could be an underlying infection where no symptoms are present and then all of the sudden can appear? perhaps that could explain a lot guys ED on here. I know ever when I didn’t have the pains and all my ejaculate volume and force wasnt what it used to be.

As the winner of the challenge ‘DHT rebound’ (>10 and ranges 1-3,5), I can say that one of my main problems is the prostate pain, which is very annoying, and which constitutes a large part of my problems.

I got my DHT checked again yesterday so I will see what the results say.
I try to lower DHT with green tea a bit because I think its weird such a level of DHT, but on the other hand I got all my problems with finasteride, which goal was to lower DHT. So i dont know if i’m right to do this.

dude the pain is so bad in my pelvic region tonight i dont know how to describe it i cant even sit down. i may have to go to a hospital tonight this is killing me.

To all of you in this thread here. Prostatitis should be treated with extreme urgency, and as an infectious disease! If you can’t get your hands on some Levaquin, which I think I have heard is the very best, I have even heard many say you should take the Cipro for two months, to fully kill everything off. Even my oriental medical consultant, who prescribes me herbs, and who is treating me holistically, is telling me this. Its just the way it is. So, yes, ithappens, 3 weeks is not enough, from many people’s standpoint.

i am wondering if maybe i have prostate issues. My pee and my ejaculation are both very weak. my testicles are cold all the time and even though i feel nothing when i have in orgasm i feel just slightly more if i am laying flat on my back. I checked with a urolgist about getting my prostate checked and he told me not to same with doctor shippen. I suppose they were not eggar to put there hands up my ass.

But i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to get my prostate checked and the test i need to do it.
