Could involuntary muscle movements/ twitching be caused by elevated Uric Acid?

I was watching a tv documentary about Lesch-Nyhan syndrome and it struck me that Uric acid could relate to some of our symptoms. My Uric acid levels showed too high on my last blood test. I wonder how many of you have above range Uric acid.

“Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, an extremely rare inherited disorder, is also associated with very high serum uric acid levels.
Spasticity, involuntary movement and cognitive retardation as well as manifestations of gout are seen in cases of this syndrome”

On this syndrome, the elevation of Uric Acid (which gets extremely high on these patients - not our case by any means) poisons the blood and affects the muscles and brain response to movement, causing the muscles to become stiff and contract involuntarily. It is not a completely known disease and it has no cure at the moment.

My point with this post is to warn you to check your Uric Acid levels, and if it shows high, to change your diet - cut sugar, salt, avoid frutose - and to drink lots of water, every day.

I think that says it all.

We can’t blame everything under the sun on Finasteride; the drug causes specific, common symptoms in men across all walks of life, across various ages.

I doubt your elevated results have anything to do with Fin use but if a bunch of post-Fin sufferers had common results then perhaps it would be worth considering.

I understand your point Mew,

I am not saying we have this disorder. I cited the disorder to explain how i found out that an elevation of Uric acid can affect muscle. I do think it is important for us to check this on further blood tests.

We have no clue how our disease may evolve, so as much as we can antecipate, the more damage we might be able to avoid.

Nobody in my family has ever had elevated Uric Acid. Nobody in my family has a history of kidney stone… i have never in my life showed any abnormalities in Uric Acid. I have never used drugs, i don’t drink, i have always eaten well.

Yeah, i definetely blame it on Finasteride.

An elevation of uric acid is often associated with insulin resistance, elevated colesterol… i think many of us have shown these problems after Finasteride.
