So I went to the urologist a couple weeks ago and he only agreed to test Testosterone and Prolactin. Today I get the invoice from the lab and it is for $506. FIVE HUNDRED AND SIX DOLLARS!??!?!
For two measly tests?!?!
Is this right, or am I getting absolutely robbed here? And if so, what does it cost to get a full hormonal profile like many of you have here?
Sounds like you were ripped off.
I paid nearly $800 for ones I got last year (May 2007) which was WAYY more than just 2 tests.
Lab tests cost a lot. Probably more than in Canada Mew.
My full panels cost about $2,500 - $3,000 or something…
That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t debate the cost, and maybe even try to threaten to not pay, if they don’t reduce the cost. Especially if you weren’t warned prior to, and the doc knew you were paying out of pocket, because its still expensive, and wrong.

I had a fairly thorough test done at a lab that I looked up and physically went to, they didn’t do some things which I wish they did like Estrone (E2) but overall it was definitely worth it. You can go to the tests section of the site to see just how thorough it was, I had full thyroid, ACTH, cortisol, liver, CBC, prolactin, and all sorts of other crap done.
How much did it cost me? 60 american dollars, with health insurance of course.
Even if I didn’t have health insurance though, it would have only been like 300 dollars or something, so yeah, I’m afraid to say you got gyped, I would definitely voice some sort of complaint against these people.
