Cordyceps for sleep

So I took only 1 mg Fin on August 7 and 13 days later I started developing extreme unprecedented sleeplessness and insomnia unimaginable out of nowhere.

I’m now trying out cordyceps since I’ve read it’s a 5ar enhancer and promotes deep sleep. Question is I’ve heard the body could take 1 to 3 months to remake 5ar on its own and I’m not even near that window yet. Would taking a potential 5ar enhancer like cordyceps not be a wise idea before I give my body a chance to naturally recover on its own first? Would it screw things up? I’m just extremely desperate since I’m so excruciatingly sleep deprived.

Do you have a link showing that Cordyceps are 5ar enhancer by any chance? I also looked into cordyceps when I started getting insomnia, I think what turned me off is that I read somewhere that it’s unsafe to take them long term. I’m not 100% sure. I think cordyceps work through the adenosine receptors, not through 5a-reduc. I’m really interested in knowing if this works, please update me if you end up trying them.

Ok, you’re right. There doesnt seem to be anything in the literature concerning cordyceps working through 5ar. My post was just based on this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nootropics/comments/7mvy4i/paul_stamets_cordyceps_increases_5alphareductase/

Which seems to be based only on in-vitro assays. Someone please change my title.

When I used an old jar of cordyceps, I had two hours more of sleep from 3 hours and perhaps more deep sleep. Confounded by the fact that I also took 0.1 mg Prozac. Could’ve been a fluke. who knows. This was a few nights ago.

What are the dangers of long term or medium term use of cordyceps?

Honestly I have no idea, I read that they put you at higher risk of auto-immune disease and blood clots. I don’t know the science behind it, and I can’t remember where I read it. I’m sure you can find more on the internet.

I think you should lay down for a while, chill and try to recover naturally even if its hard at first, yes you might have to stay awake. Dont jump on drugs with unknown effects and questionable gains, thats my opinion
