Constant physical anxiety since quitting - help?

Hi all,

I’ll try and keep this brief. I was on finasteride for around a year due to minor hairline recession, towards the end I started to get awful brain fog which I didn’t pin down to finasteride for a few weeks, once I realised I quit and the brain fog went away. At about the same time as when the brain fog ceased I started to get really bad physical anxiety (feeling shaky, constant butterflies in stomach, rapid heart beat etc…). The best thing I can liken it to is constantly having that “fight or flight” response, it’s at its worst during physical exercise which makes the gym a nightmare. This has carried on for over a year, the only things that relieve it (L-theanine, ashwagandha) also bring back the brain fog. Even going back on finasteride (I know, awful idea) relieves the anxiety but the brain fog comes straight back!

Anyone know what the underlying issue is here and how I could address it? This has been ruining my life for the last year or so.

Thanks

EDIT 1: Just to clarify I’m more concered about the physical anxiety after quitting rather than not being able to use finasteride, I have no interest in ever using it again.

EDIT 2: I’ve put this under physical as they are purely physical symptoms, I’m actually fairly confident in my head which is what makes it all the more frustrating.

Propananol helps with the rapid heart beat, it’s a beta blocker. As for feeling shaky and butterflies in your stomach, I can’t really suggest anything long term besides trying to practice meditation when possible and reminding yourself that these responses from your body are just chemicals going off and there is no impending danger around you. I know it’s pretty redundant advice but sometimes it helps.

Hi @123

I have the same problems. Recovered from null libido, sperm quantity, morning and spontan erections, suicidal thoughts, extreme fatigue, unmotivation and so on.
But stress/anxiety presists in situations like supermarket, discoussions or place with a lot of lights. Gut problems are better but not like post crash. Can’t realy find something that helps me with this. If i find something i will let you know.

Best.
Z.
