Does PFS suck? Yup.
Are we as royally screwed as the victim’s of Parkinson’s/ALS? No. Not even close. And within a year+ we will have even more answers and hopefully some options for treatment. In addition, funding for the PFS will increase as media attention grows - I’m guessing the story about the drug company that knowingly castrated thousands of young American males will grab a little bit of attention. Until then - try and do something to further the cause. I’ve already agreed to use my real name and my story in the Chicago market when the time strikes. Follow suit. We need more men willing to come forward.

SA, this forum is about more than your own narcissism or ego. dgreene is pretty consistent in posting thoughtful, on-topic, and well researched insights. If you wish to ignore someone, that’s your prerogative, but of no concern to anyone else. Please keep it to yourself and keep the conversation to the thread at hand. Whoah, you don’t know the entire story so please mind your own business. Dgreene constantly PM’s me asking me for information after I repeatedly told him not to. I and others have took the time to answer the hundreds of questions he’s asked. He doesn’t seem to appreciate all the information we acquired for him, or the work it took to get this far; instead he asks more questions in rapid style posts, then tells us what conclusions to draw based on what he saw on the news. So please do stay on topic, which isn’t the dozens of random questions dgreene asks. Thanks.

He just posted about ALS/Parkinson’s insinuating science knows the cause. So I would disagree that he post thoughtfully. Negatively, yes. Thoughtfully, no as much.

I don’t really care about anyone’s ego…but SA has done a lot for the community as a whole. I don’t know the guy, but I am guessing he has done more himself than most of us, myself included, combined. Instead of getting into a pissing contest with him, why not follow his example? Like I said - I’ve already given my story to the appropriate parties - and when the time is right my real name and my story will be printed in the Chicago area media. I wish I didn’t have to - but besides SA, I don’t see a whole lot of people doing much to further our cause. Hopefully a few more guys will come forward so we can expose this bullshit company for what they really are. Whoah, DGreene…please step up to the plate. We need you.

fact … it does not matter one single fucking bit what anyone on this forum thinks of our chances of a cure/ treatment are … they are not qualified to even have a slightly valuable opinion, no matter how much time they spend reading google etc. … anyone who gets sucked into these worthless opinions is simply wasting their time on a whole lot of NOTHING … for the last time, reading up on google does not mean a fucking thing … yes, this is a forum, but people have abused this forum with sheer stupidity for far too long and some of us are fucking sick of it …

i feel lucky in that i am now able to just laugh off these stupid and pointless posts … there is far too much going on that is positive to let a few fools ruin that

i would hope people can stay focused on productive things, especially at a time like this, rather than getting sucked back into the absolutely useless opinions and out of context quotes that are thrown around this forum on an almost daily basis

I’m not here to argue and I actually think this may be the first time I’ve argued with people on this site. For the most part, I post interesting research articles and try to encourage scientific discussion because believe it or not, some of the scientists check this site or at least someone is notifying them of compounds that may be promising so that they can test them or think about the mechanism by which they act.

Jorbie - When you quoted me, why did you leave out the part about MPTP causing Parkinson’s? You selectively left that part out.
What causes Parkinson’s? We know that it happens in men taking streets drugs laced with MPTP…scientists know MPTP destroys dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra of the midbrain. Of course this isn’t the primary way people get Parkinson’s.

furthermore, for some, PFS can be self-limiting in so far as there are many people who report that they are drastically improving over time. So what do we have, a syndrome that we can connect to a certain drug we all took, a bunch of people who actually subjectively improved over time, and a very interested medical community in these persistent effects.

Actually, I was thinking what you were saying about self limiting. And at least this is hopeful. PFS is not a degenerative disease where we are progressively worsening with age. Our bodies are just not functioning in the proper way.

no I agree with that, the problem is being locked to long in this sort of unhealthy state. I know one of my concerns is my rapidly deteriorating gum line despite my perfect dental hygiene.
